⚓ NATIONAL CADETS WEEK – MEET THE TEAM! ⚓

Meet our Daring Divisional Officer – PO (SCC) Harry Westwood!

Harry’s journey with the Sea Cadets started just like many of our cadets today!

He began as a young Sea Cadet, working his way up through the ranks to Able Cadet (AC) before aging out and deciding to continue his journey by joining our dedicated staff team.

Now, as PO Westwood, Harry plays an important role in inspiring, supporting and guiding our newest cadets, helping them build confidence, develop new skills and make memories that will last a lifetime! 👏

From once standing in the cadets’ ranks to now leading and motivating the next generation, Harry is a fantastic example of how the Sea Cadets is more than just an organisation – it’s a family where you can grow, achieve and give back. ⚓

Thank you, PO Westwood, for your continued dedication and for helping shape the future of our unit!

⚓️ NATIONAL CADET WEEK | MEET OUR UNIT CHAIRMAN ⚓️

Today, we’re celebrating our fantastic Unit Chairman, Mr David Byrne! 👏

David has been a dedicated part of our unit for over a decade, working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. From ensuring our building is safe, secure and well maintained, to helping provide a safe and welcoming environment for all our cadets and volunteers, David plays a huge role in making our unit what it is today.

So much of what happens behind the scenes can go unnoticed, but the time, commitment and dedication David gives to our unit never go unappreciated. His hard work helps create a place where our cadets can learn, grow, build confidence and make memories.

🙌 Thank you, David, for over a decade of dedication, commitment and support! Our unit wouldn’t be the same without you, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything you do.

Join us in showing David some appreciation this National Cadet Week!

⚓️NATIONAL CADET WEEK ⚓️

Meet our OiC – PO (SCC) Jade Longstaff!

PO Longstaff started her journey in the Sea Cadets as a cadet herself, and today she has the privilege of leading our unit as our Officer in Charge.

Having experienced the Cadet Forces from both sides, she understands just how much of an impact Sea Cadets can have on young people. From learning new skills and building confidence, to making lifelong friendships and memories that last a lifetime, there is so much more to being a cadet than simply wearing the uniform.

Seeing our cadets grow, challenge themselves, achieve their goals and make memories along the way is what makes volunteering so worthwhile.

Every parade night, every course, every achievement and every new challenge reminds PO Longstaff why she chose to give back to an organisation that gave her so much.

Thank you to all of our cadets, staff, parents and supporters who make Gateshead Sea Cadets what it is. Here's to creating many more memories and helping the next generation discover what they are capable of!
