Dear Facebook followers. Sadly, Gateshead Council and the Integrated Care Board (ICB NHS) have awarded the new contract to deliver carer support services in Gateshead to, Nottingham-based charity, Carers Federation.

Unfortunately and with great sadness, this means that all of our existing services will end on 31st August 2024. Our staff and trustees are all devastated by this news, as I'm sure many of you will be.

Gateshead Carers Association is not closing down completely but we will have to support unpaid carers in different ways than what you have seen before, primarily focusing on unpaid carers rights with a much smaller team.

From September 1st 2024, Carers Federation will be operating caregiver services in Gateshead. We now know this will be based at Aiden House on Sunderland Road.

If you have any questions, comments or queries for Gateshead Council and the Integrated Care Board (ICB NHS), please contact them directly using the following email address; [email protected]

Thank you for choosing to come to Gateshead Carers for support.

For more information and to find a list of frequently asked questions, please read our news article below

IMPORTANT NEWS: our services will be changing over the next 4 weeks. Please read our full statement on the matter.

It takes on average two years for someone to identify as a carer. Many people see caring as a duty to family life and so often miss out on vital support.

Carers deserve a break, help us give them a place to unwind!

We need your help to raise vital funds for Caldew House: our holiday home for carers.

Over the last 9 years, the House has hosted hundreds of holidays for carers. Now it needs fresh furniture to continue being a place for carers to relax and recharge.

We need our fab Facebook community to support our cause by sharing this post and donating to our Crowdfunder page.

https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/comfort-for-carers

100% of all funds pledged to this fundraiser will be spent on purchasing furniture and furnishings for the holiday home. This includes comfy beds and cosy sofas - we want to make it a home away from home for all carers 💚💙
