Weaving for Wellbeing
A Year of Creativity, Friendship and Connection
We're so proud to celebrate the wonderful women who have taken part in our Weaving for Wellbeing project, whose beautiful artwork is now on display at the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead until 24 October!
Over the past year, the women have come together to explore nature, creativity and the changing seasons through a wonderful variety of arts and crafts.
From gathering plants in our garden and experimenting with natural dyes to weaving, basket making, printing and creating a beautiful patchwork quilt, the project has been full of opportunities to learn new skills, share knowledge and stories, and build friendships.
It's been about so much more than the artwork. It's been a space for women from different backgrounds and cultures to connect, support one another, build confidence and enjoy being creative together.
The exhibition is a lovely celebration of everything they've achieved, and seeing their work displayed in a public gallery has been a really special moment for everyone involved.
We were especially touched by some of the messages we received from the women after visiting the exhibition:

A huge thank you to the brilliant Savannah Rios-Wills and Saya Naruse, who have guided the women through the project with such care, creativity and encouragement.

And most importantly, thank you to all the women who have shared their time, creativity, skills and stories over the past year. You've created something really special, and we're incredibly proud of you all. ❤️
