Gateshead Youth Council GYC is a charity dedicated to empowering young people, to support them to develop life skills and to get involved in social action.

We believe that young people are amazing, sometimes though, they need a leg up, we aim to provide that! Gateshead Youth Council is an organisation that is forward thinking and constantly looks to the future. It has been in existence since 1979 and is youth centred, youth focused and youth led. It targets young people aged 11-25 and carries a broad remit which is reflected in the diverse range of youth issues and activities that it is involved in on a local, regional, national and international basis.

Isn't it amazing what a couple of days of graft can do. Our amazing PhD student Raine Robinson along with Owen and five young people from Gateshead Youth Assembly have transformed both back yards at Gladstone Terrace. This film is just one side! Very very impressed, and grateful.

We are glad it's almost the weekend!
This week we have had a celebratory meal out with our Young Inspectors thanks to The Key. We met Helen, the independent Safeguarding chair on Tuesday, who came to GYA to tell us about her role and last night we were at the Premier of the Blossom 🌸 project film, created between GYC, Digital Voice and National Trust. Photos will follow. V
