Tomorrow from 6pm, we’ll be visiting the community of Jarrow at Jarrow Focus with our friends ReportOUT for a special pride banner workshop. It does not matter your age, whether you want to paint your joy or protest your frustration, we want you to join us to showcase the community of Jarrow!

Kate Osborne MP of Jarrow, when asked what Pride meant said:

“First and foremost, Pride is a protest. I think that’s something that is sometimes forgotten, but it’s really important that we remember and celebrate how far we’ve come”.

Bring your creativity and community spirit for a banner making crafternoon at Jarrow Focus!

Remembering the Men in the Pink Triangle🏳️‍🌈

Fantastic talk by ReportOUT CEO Drew Dalton regarding the treatment of LGBTQI+ individuals during World War 2, and the modern parallels of genocide today.

It was amazing to see such a diverse range of people attend a stark and educational talk, which highlights an often forgotten and generalised part of our history.

Drew will be delivering another talk as part of the Summer of Pride talks, being:
🌍 What is happening to LGBTQI+ rights across the globe?

🌈 What a week it has been! Our first week of Pride month may be over, but we’re so grateful for everyone who helped and attended our events. Pride is for everyone, and it was great to see every familiar and new face!

❤️ We kicked off the week with our Pride launch party at I Scream For Pizza at Sheepfolds Stables hosted by the fantastic Arran Lucy Phurr Following an evening of camp and pizza, we were then at the Sunderland Minster to hear the Northern Proud Voiceschoir!

🧡 On Tuesday we were down at University of Sunderland with the first of our Pride Panel and Talks! Hosted by ReportOUT CEO Drew Dalton with CEO panelists from North East leading LGBTQIA+ charities including; Alice Coles from Pride Action North Alice Skye from Hexham Pride and Peter Darrant from OUT North East. Then, with Gateshead Councils Library team we hosted a Wear it with Pride DIY crafting session.

💛 The ONE Centre was packed on Wednesday as local Gateshead legendary drag icon Miss OpheliaBalls hosted a bingo and quiz night. It was a night full of laughs, joy and performances from Bonnie Lad.

💚 Thursday, was the start of our Pride takeovers as we were at M The Galleries Washington adding a splash of colour or two to Sunderland. It was fun for the entire family, and amazing to see so many people and organisations come together for Pride.

💙 People got their quiz hats on at Diego's Joint in Sunderland, as Fiona Duncan tested people on their LGBTQIA+ knowledge with one of her iconic quizzes, and Sharon Stoned entertained the crowd with all the hits. Perfect start to the first Friday of Pride.

💜 Saturday, we were all over Sunderland. First, we held our Pride Takeover at the Bridges Sunderland Shopping Centre with Curious Arts big thanks to Lucy Phurr and Gloria Love for entertaining our guests. Then we were down at Sheepfolds Stables for our Pride Concert Fundraiser. It was packed! Thanks to Lucy Phurr, Demetria Phurr, Blane Runway, Ben Lloyd, Angie Brown, Natalie Gray, JNR, SallyTM, DJ Michael Maddison and Blu James for entertaining the crowd and making it a night to remember!

🩵 To finish the week off, we were at the Beacon of Light with a day full of activities, including a Pride banner making session with ReportOUT. Whether you want to celebrate or protest for Pride, there was something for everyone!

🩷 That’s just Week 1! We have so much more to come, so check out the lineup of this week's events. Check our events calendar and grab your tickets, we’ll see you there.

Lewis Atkinson MP - Sunderland Central who we ran into at Diego's had to say "It’s important that we have lots of events and places where the LGBTQ+ community can be safe and come together".

A fantastic day at the Bridges Sunderland for our Pride Takeover.

Happy faces, great stalls, fun activities with Curious Arts and heartfelt conversations. We also had a glamorous hot dog (Arran Lucy Phurr) and delicious ice cream (Gloria Love) linking the Food Festival and the Bridges.

The city was buzzing with events and the Bridges Sunderland looked amazing.

This is our third year partnering with Joanne Wilkins and and they always pull out all the stops and make us feel so welcome.

Thanks to everyone who joined us.
