Taking place on Wednesday 3 June 2026, Making Every Contact Count: Where are your opportunities? is a free, full-day conference delivered in collaboration with Northumbria University and supported by North East and North Cumbria NHS. 🗓️🤝 The event will be held at the Business and Law Building, City Campus East, Northumbria University, Newcastle. 🏫📍

🤩🎓 That’s a wrap for April’s Youth Academy 🎓🤩

It’s been an amazing, fun packed week with another lovely group of young people 🥰

This morning we had another brilliant session with NEAS Paramedics and got to have a look around their ambulance 🚑

We then had Gordon from Red Cross delivering an interesting, interactive session on Empathy plus Migration ⛑️

A huge thank you to all of the young people who attended, the guest speakers for volunteering your time to inspire and educate, to Gateshead Council for allowing us to use your building and to NENC ICB for sponsoring the event 👏

Our young people have a had a very fun, interactive day 😃

St. John’s ambulance delivered a brilliant street first aid session 🫀😮‍💨

Caitlin kindley shared how she became a Nurse Associate and showed us how to take blood pressure 🩺💉

Age UK delivered a session on dementia awareness and used VR headsets to allow us to experience what’s it’s like to have to dementia 🧠👴

Day 2 done ✅👌

This morning our young people learned about apprenticeships with Gateshead Council Learning and Skills, HIV awareness with Blue Sky Trust and what a Tissue Technical Specialist does with Roche.

The day ended with a fun and interactive session with Change Grow Live. They delivered a session on how they support with drug and alcohol abuse.

Today we welcomed a new group of young people from Gateshead who have an interest in careers in the health and care sector.

Sophie, PCN Nurse for Central South Gateshead, kicked the week off with a fantastic Women’s Health session followed by a brilliant interactive session with our Pharmicus colleagues, Kayleigh & Caroline.
