Dart Sailability

Dart Sailability Dart Sailability encourages anyone with a disability to take part and enjoy the sport of sailing on the beautiful River Dart.

Purpose built dinghies, which can be adapted to meet the needs of individual sailors, are available to enable people with disabilities to get afloat either alone, if they are already competent, or with an instructor. There are also 2 keel boats which can also be used to provide instruction, all with full safety boat cover. Additionally we have other motor boats that allow non sailors to experience

the beautiful River Dart. A hoist is available to safely lift wheelchair users into the boats. Weather permitting, we sail from May to September when tide conditions permit - visit the website for full programme of sessions. Free taster sessions are available, regular members pay a small charge. Dart Sailability is a Royal Yachting Association Centre of Excellence and runs courses on sailing and power boating for sailors and volunteers. Full details, including contact details are on our Website, http://www.dartsailability.org.

Dart Sailability is still looking for a Chair of Trustees to replace Neil Strevens, who is stepping down after seven years in the post in April for personal reasons. If you'd like to do some good in the community by helping out a worthwhile charity, committed to improving the lives of less-able people of all kinds and ages, are basically computer-literate, and are prepared to give a few hours each week to co-ordinating the policy, administration and finances of the organisation, please contact Neil at [email protected] as soon as you can.

Dart SAILABILITY Group Needs a New Chair of Trustees. Operating from Dolphin Boatyard in GALMPTON Creek, this very worthwhile charity has been getting disabled people out on the water for over 25 years. The current Chair of Trustees stepped straight into the position on retirement nearly seven years ago, and now needs to step down for personal reasons. If anyone out there who loves boating and/sailing and would like to have access to it for free, in exchange for a few hours admin per week, then please contact Neil Strevens [email protected] for more information about the position. Apart from a love of the River Dart, it would be an advantage to have a reasonable working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Office products, be comfortable speaking in public (only occasionally!) and to have held some sort of managerial position in the past. Please help keep this fantastic charity afloat for the next 25 years!
