🐾 UPDATE ON TARA 🐾

Thank you so much to everyone who has contacted us about our lovely girl Tara. We’ve received a huge amount of interest in her and really appreciate everyone who has offered her a home. ❤️

Tara recently had a very successful meet with a prospective family, and we are now in the process of progressing her adoption.

While everything is being finalised, we are no longer accepting applications, emails or messages regarding Tara.

Should anything change, we will of course update her status and let everyone know.

For now, please keep your fingers crossed that everything continues to go well for Tara and her potential new family. 🤞🐾

Thank you, as always, for your support and for wanting to give our Dobermanns a loving home.

Meet Tara 🐾

Tara is a beautiful young Dobermann who is just 18 months old. She is a lovely, friendly and playful girl with all the energy, affection and character you would expect from a typical young Dobermann.

Tara adores her people and has been brought up around her family’s three-year-old grandson. A home with children over five years old may be considered, subject to the usual introductions and assessment.

She appears friendly with other dogs and is comfortable meeting new people. Tara has never lived with cats and will chase, so she cannot be rehomed with cats or other small animals.

Tara currently struggles with separation anxiety and will need a patient, understanding home where someone can initially be with her at all times. This will need to be managed gradually and compassionately as she settles and builds confidence. She may benefit from living with a calm, compatible dog for company, although careful introductions would be required.

The ideal outcome for Tara would be a foster home with a view to adoption. This would give her the stability and consistency she needs while allowing her foster family time to get to know her properly and ensure that the placement is the right long-term match.

Tara is not yet spayed. This will either be arranged while she is in foster care or completed by her new owners as part of her adoption agreement, depending on the circumstances.

Her family has made the difficult decision to rehome her because they are no longer able to meet her needs. This decision has not been made lightly, and they want to find her a home where she can thrive.

Tara would benefit from an active, breed-experienced home with the time, patience and commitment to continue her training and help her become the confident, settled young dog she deserves to be.

We've had a lovely update from Sonny's fosterers with some pictures to show how well he's settling in.

He's been to the vet for his routine health check and apart from some itchy ears he's all good.

He's fitting into his foster families life very well so far and is being spoiled rotten. We wanted to share some pictures of him loving life in his foster home.

If you would like to be considered for fostering please get in touch. You can contact us by message or email on - [email protected]

🐾 A little update from us

Just a quick update, and a thank you to everyone who is currently waiting for a reply to an email, message or application.

I’ve had to take a bit of a step back from rescue admin recently due to my health, and unfortunately that means I’ve fallen behind.

The reality is that behind the emails, applications, paperwork and day-to-day running of Scottish Dobermann Rescue, there is only me. We have some wonderful volunteers who help us enormously, but the majority of the admin and organisation falls to one person.

I love this rescue and will always do everything I can for the dogs that need us, but I also have to recognise that if I don’t look after myself, eventually I won’t be able to keep the rescue running at all. Sometimes that means accepting that things may take a little longer.

I’ll be working my way through outstanding emails and messages over the next couple of days and will get back to everyone as soon as I can.

The good news is that Sonny is now safely in foster care ❤️ and we don’t currently have any other dogs actively looking for homes, which gives me a little breathing room to catch up.

There are also new foster and adoption applications waiting for homechecks. I haven’t forgotten about you, and I’ll get around to arranging these as soon as I’m able.

Thank you, genuinely, for your patience, understanding and continued support of Scottish Dobermann Rescue. 🐾❤️

🌈 In Loving Memory of Zara 🌈

We were deeply saddened to hear that beautiful Zara, who was adopted from Scottish Dobermann Rescue in 2022, sadly passed away last month.

Zara was diagnosed with lymphoma in April, and our hearts go out to her devoted family, who are understandably devastated by her loss.

Although her time with them was far too short, Zara spent her final years surrounded by love, comfort and the security of a family who adored her. We will always be grateful to them for giving her such a wonderful home and for loving her so deeply.

On behalf of everyone at Scottish Dobermann Rescue, we would like to offer Zara’s family our sincerest condolences. She will always be remembered as part of the SDR family.

Run free, beautiful Zara. You were so very loved. 🐾🌈

🐾 COULD YOU FOSTER A DOBERMANN? 🐾

We’re delighted to have found a foster home for Sonny, but rescue never really stops — and we never know when the next Dobermann will need our help. ❤️

That’s why we’re looking for foster homes across Scotland to join our waiting list, ready to help when a dog comes into our care.

Having approved fosterers ready and waiting can make an enormous difference. It can mean that when a dog suddenly needs somewhere safe to go, we already have someone we can call rather than having to start our search from scratch.

🏡 What does fostering involve?

Our fosterers provide a safe, loving home while we get to know the dog and find the right permanent home for them. Scottish Dobermann Rescue remains responsible for the dog throughout the foster period and covers agreed veterinary costs.

We need fosterers with all kinds of circumstances. Some dogs need to be the only pet, some can live with other dogs, and their needs and personalities vary enormously — so the more approved foster homes we have, the better chance we have of finding the right match when a dog needs us.

You don’t need to be ready to take a dog right now. We’re looking for people who would be happy to complete our application and home-check process and join our foster waiting list for future dogs.

📍 Foster homes must be based in Scotland.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering a Dobermann, now is a great time to get in touch.

You might not know which dog needs you yet — but when that call comes, having a foster home ready could change everything for them. ❤️🐾

Please get in touch with us or complete our application form if you’d like to be considered as a fosterer.

EMAIL- [email protected]

And if you can’t foster, sharing this post could help us reach someone who can. 🐾
