Our week is here đź–¤

The bunting is out and Galashiels is looking its best.

Our Braw Lad Ruaridh, Braw Lass Chloe and their Attendants are representing the town proudly, and what a start they’ve had.

An amazing 142 horses followed the cavalcade to Lindean, making for a fantastic evening and a wonderful spectacle at last night’s Lindean Rideout.

🏔️🧵 From the gallery windows to the hilltops...

At the four corners of our Tapestry Gallery are tall windows, purposefully positioned to look out onto the four hills that surround Galashiels - and every one of them has a story to tell. Our latest guest blog, written by Angela Crow of Hike & Bike Hub, Galashiels SCIO SC 051989, is your local guide to the walks, landmarks and hidden tales waiting just beyond our doors.

🪡 Visiting for the weekend? Our 2-Day Ticket (£18, valid for a week) means you can return for a second look — because one visit is never quite enough.

Supporting local isn’t just about where we shop. It’s also about supporting the local businesses, trades and services that help keep our town moving.

This Scotland Loves Local Week, we’re excited to introduce YELO – a new design, print, signage and installation company based in Galashiels.

While the business is new, the team behind it brings decades of experience in design, print and installation.

They’re passionate about supporting local businesses and helping organisations across the town stand out and grow.

YELO looks forward to serving the Galashiels community, businesses across the Scottish Borders and customers further afield, while playing its part in helping our local economy thrive.

Swipe through to read more about why YELO is flying the flag for local.

When we think about supporting local, it's often our independent businesses that first come to mind. But a successful town centre relies on a mix of businesses, each playing an important role in the life of our town.

Our local branches of national organisations are important too. They create employment opportunities, keep town centre premises occupied and contribute to a vibrant and welcoming high street for residents and visitors alike.

This Scotland Loves Local Week, we caught up with the team at British Red Cross in Galashiels. A much-loved charity shop, they're proud to be part of our town centre and the community it serves.

Listen to why British Red Cross is proud to be flying the flag for Galashiels.
