SUMMER CLOSURE - the club will close after training on 30 June. It will reopen for boxers on 3 August and for kids on 17 August.

We rugby players are tough, but cold water doesn't care how fit or strong you are. Cold Water Shock can affect anyone🌊🚨

With the recent warm weather, many young people are heading to rivers, lochs, lakes and beaches to cool off.

👇 Here are some simple ways to enjoy the outdoors while staying safe:
👉 Never jump or dive into cold water without entering gradually first.
👉 Always check the area before swimming. Is it safe? Can you get in and out easily? Are there any hidden hazards beneath the surface?
👉 Walk in slowly and give your body time to adjust to the temperature.
👉 Focus on calm, controlled breathing.
👉 Swim with friends, but don't put yourself or others at risk.
👉 Don't stay in too long – hypothermia can develop even on warm days.
👉 Bring warm, dry clothes for afterwards.
👉 Be honest about your swimming ability and don't go out of your depth.

If you find yourself in difficulty, remember Float to Live:
🐬 Float on your back.
🐬 Tilt your head back and keep your ears in the water.
🐬 Relax and focus on controlling your breathing.
🐬 If you're in moving water, keep your feet up and pointed downstream.
🐬 Once your breathing is under control, call for help and, if possible, gently make your way to safety.

Please note we have had to close our junior sessions to new members until after the summer holidays if you are current member you can still attend the sessions.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT
Starting this Thursday 23 April we will be providing 2 x sessions a week for Juniors: 6pm Monday & 6pm Thursday. Current and NEW Juniors can choose to attend either night, or, to progress more quickly, both nights!! 🥊

Until the end of the season (Start of Summer holidays) you will only pay £3 whether you attend 1 or both sessions.

Because this season is almost over we’ll not process new members just yet, but will accept new attendees next season.

This reflects the level of interest amongst kids wanting to get into boxing, and we’re grateful for the coaches for providing more opportunities for them to get started 💥💪🥊👍

🥇 Mason strikes gold again today… 🥇

Brillant display from Mason today which saw him claim gold in the final and become the 50kg Junior champion in the Eastern District.

Kids classes will be off this Monday 6th and next Monday 13th. Training for boxers is continuing as usual, especially as we have the Caledonian Box Cup this weekend & Eastern Districts next weekend. 🥊💥

A fantastic experience yesterday when some of our boxers were interviewed by ITV Borders for a feature on the club’s legacy of success & ambitions for the future 🥊💥

Media interviews can be daunting for anyone, but they were all naturals!

The feature goes on air either this evening (Fri 6th) or Mon 9th, depending on how quickly ITV can edit nearly 2 hours of filming. I’ll update as soon as I hear from ITV.

Well done to all involved - great ambassadors for the club and for boxing in our town. 🥊
