The Lavender Touch

The Lavender Touch The Lavender Touch charity supports those living with cancer in the Scottish Borders All referrals to the service come from healthcare professionals, e.g.

Our Lavender Touch Therapists work as part of the holistic care team for cancer patients who live in the Scottish Borders. Doctors; Nurses; Occupational Therapists; Physiotherapists etc. Confidentiality is assured as The Lavender Touch Therapists work to the same confidentiality rules as the other healthcare staff. Anyone who lives within the Scottish Borders Region and who has cancer is eligible

for treatment. If you have someone who spends most of their time & energy helping looking after you, they too may be eligible for treatments. Feedback from those who have benefitted indicate that in the vast majority (95%) of cases, the therapy treatments will help alleviate some of the symptoms experienced by cancer patients, e.g. insomnia, muscle aches and pains, anxiety, low mood, nausea etc. The service is co-ordinated with the NHS, thus allowing care to be more seamless. Confidentiality is maintained and safe, effective, individualised treatments are provided.

Donation Update ...

From 1st July and throughout the summer, we will be pausing donations at our store while we work through the fantastic volume of items we have already received.

If you have a smaller number of items to donate, these can still be dropped off at our shop as normal.

This temporary pause will help our team and volunteers sort, process and make the most of every donation, ensuring we can maximise the funds raised to support people affected by cancer across the Scottish Borders.

Thank you for your understanding, patience and continued generosity. We will keep everyone updated when donations can once again be brought to the store đź’ś

Welcome to The Lavender Touch, Megan! đź’ś

Please join us in welcoming Megan Graham, our new Complementary Therapy Service Coordinator.

Megan brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked as a Therapeutic Radiographer with NHS Grampian and as a Cancer Support Specialist with Maggie’s.

Having recently returned home to the Borders, she is looking forward to continuing to support people affected by cancer within the local community.

As our Therapy Service Coordinator, Megan plays a key role in receiving referrals from NHS Borders colleagues and helping people access the complementary therapies that best meet their needs.

We currently offer Clinical Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Therapeutic Massage across the Scottish Borders, including home visits for those unable to travel.

These therapies complement conventional cancer treatments, providing relaxation, rest and restoration to support overall wellbeing.

If you live in the Scottish Borders and have a cancer diagnosis, or care for someone with cancer, please speak to an NHS Borders healthcare professional involved in your care or treatment about a referral. This could be your doctor, district nurse, Macmillan nurse or another member of your healthcare team.

A huge thank you to Emma, who successfully completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival last Sunday!

Despite the challenging heat, Emma crossed the finish line in an incredible time of 2 hours 39 minutes!

Emma chose to take on her very first half marathon in memory of her late granny, who received therapeutic treatments from The Lavender Touch.

Thanks to Emma's amazing fundraising efforts, she has raised an incredible ÂŁ810 to help us continue providing therapeutic treatments and support to people living with cancer and their loved ones across the Scottish Borders đź’ś

They did it đź’ś

A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to Simon & Melissa for completing their half marathon in an incredible time of 2 hours 17 minutes.

Despite the very hot conditions, they dug deep, kept each other going and crossed the finish line together. An amazing achievement.

This run was especially meaningful, taking place in memory of Simon’s mum, who Simon describes as a true “force of nature” and who was taken far too soon by cancer. To honour her in this way while raising support for The Lavender Touch is incredibly special.

Together they have raised an amazing ÂŁ371 for The Lavender Touch. Every penny will help us continue providing care, comfort and therapeutic treatments across the Scottish Borders.

Thank you both for your determination, kindness and support, and for going the extra mile for The Lavender Touch!
