On Saturday 12th September we had our first LAH-DI-DAH at our fab new venue 55 High Street in Galashiels - it was so good to have folk drop in eat the lovely cake supplied by and chat all things Imagine Gala and of course all things not Gala related !!!

This was preceded by the third Places of Possibilities workshop with Kat Gollock talking and sharing mobile phone photography tips with a group of 5 keen local amateur photographers and Places of Possibilities finders to add to our growing collection of POP cards and ideas.

and LAH members and bought in beautiful banners made and painted by young people (you may have seen these out in town last weekend too!) as well as animations and banners to sew and embroider from previous ‘Imagine Galashiels’ drop-in workshops. As usual we were so busy chatting we just managed to take photos towards the end of the day!!!

Our 'Imagine Galashiels' wall asked folk ‘What if..?’ and what they would like to see at LAH and in the town. So many great and inspiring ideas some of which we're already developing. Indeed will be hosting our first ‘REGULAR OPEN DOORS’ drop in on Monday 23rd November 10am - 12pm hosted by LAH member Coz.

Last weekend we took to the streets to BRIGHTEN UP GALA!
So many people stopped to chat, take a look around or take part in creating colourful temporary art in town with low environmental impact 😍. Passers by were happily surprised by the art on display... making empty shops look so much better, plus a few railings and a hedge!
Thanks to those who stopped to chat helping us find out what people like and want for the future of Galashiels town centre. Empry shops are one of the biggest problems affecting the vibe, so hopefully this day changed that at least for a few hours...but could be so much more if the public and those wolith power and imfluence support creative interventions in the town...what do you think?

The art on display was all on our 'Culture Collective' theme of 'Imagine Galashiels' made by members of the community of all ages who re-thought areas of town, the market square, channel st, gala water, empty shops. Their vision was colourful, with more fun things to do and nice places to hang out to be social, whilst supporting nature.

We’re excited to be hosting our first daytime LAH-Di-DAH social at our lovely new venue at 55 High Street in Galashiels!

Come along to get creative over a cuppa, tasty snacks and good chat.

Join local photographer Kat Gollock: freelance photographer, Co-Director of AGITATE photography community, Teacher, Photographic Artist and sometimes writer, to learn about smart phone photography and the basics of how to take photos and be creative with your camera.

Head out together into Galashiels town centre to photograph the many 'Places of Possibilities' around town, perhaps a bench or an overlooked corner.

Have your photos printed out during the workshop to become part of our Places of Possibilities community postcard collection !

CLIMATE ACTION ENSEMBLE PROJECT
Supported by SBCAN (Scottish Borders Climate Action)

Do you feel Anger, Fear, or Disconnection from life because of our uncertain future?
Instead of being overwhelmed, get involved and transform your feelings into Theatre of Resistance!

Climate Action Ensemble is a response to the complex and difficult experience of being a young person who is aware and wants to make their voice heard.

We use theatre practice; actively engaging with likeminded people, to slide-tackle the climate crisis.

3 days of workshops with trained theatre maker and budding rebel clown Lukca Henry Best, leading to devising a Forum Theatre performance, inspired by Augusto Boal’s Theatre Of The Oppressed, that poses a problem and then demands the audience suggests solutions for the protagonists to act out.

A second performance will take place the following weekend, on Sunday 27th September, with a final day of developing the show before meeting a larger audience.
