🎉 A fantastic weekend for 2180 (Galashiels) Squadron! 🎉

We have not one, but two brilliant achievements to celebrate!

Well done to Cdt Holliday, who represented 2180 Sqn at the South East Scotland Wing Swimming Competition over the weekend and returned with an impressive haul of TWO Gold medals and a Silver, as well as being named Best in Age Group!

An absolutely fantastic achievement and a superb representation of the Squadron — congratulations!

We’re also delighted to congratulate Daniel Kane on his promotion to Corporal!

Daniel received his promotion last night, recognising not only what he has already achieved, but also the potential he has shown to take on greater responsibility and develop his leadership skills.

Congratulations, Cpl Kane! We look forward to seeing you grow into your new role and take on the challenges ahead.

Two very different achievements, but both something to be incredibly proud of.

✈️🔬 BANG GOES THE BORDERS! 🔬✈️

Yesterday, cadets and staff from 2180 (Galashiels) Squadron had a fantastic day at Bang Goes the Borders, taking along our ever-popular flight simulator and giving visitors the chance to take to the virtual skies! 🛩️

Held annually at the beautiful Abbey Park Campus, Bang Goes the Borders is a free science and learning festival, with around 30 presentations, demonstrations and interactive workshops running throughout the day.

It was brilliant to see so many people getting hands-on with science, technology and learning — and, of course, having a go at flying with us! There were certainly a few interesting approaches to aviation… but thankfully no actual aircraft were harmed!

Our cadets also took some time out from flying duties to mingle with the local wildlife… 🐿️👀

As you can see from the photograph, the Borders has some remarkably friendly squirrels. This particular specimen was even happy to pose for a photo — although we’re not entirely convinced it was genuinely wild!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, find out more about RAF Air Cadets and have a go on the simulator, and to the cadets and staff who gave up their Saturday to represent 2180 Sqn and make the day such a success.

A fantastic day celebrating science, learning, curiosity and opportunity — with a little bit of squirrel spotting thrown in for good measure! 🐿️✈️🔬

Good luck to all our RAF Air Cadets in Scotland receiving your exam results today! 🍀

We know today can bring a whole mix of emotions, whether you're excited, nervous, relieved, or all three at once.

Whatever's in that envelope, remember that one set of results doesn't define you or your future. There are so many different routes to achieving your goals, and this is just one step on your journey.

Celebrate your successes, be proud of how far you've come, and if things haven't gone quite the way you hoped, remember you're not facing it alone. Your unit staff are always here to support you, cheer you on, and help you figure out what comes next.

What a fantastic two days at the Borders Union Show! 🎉✈️

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand to chat with us, try out the flight simulator and find out more about what life is like in the RAF Air Cadets. It was brilliant to meet so many young people, parents and members of the local community, and we hope we’ve inspired a few future cadets and adult volunteers along the way!

Events like these simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our volunteers and cadets, so we’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave up their time to represent 2180 (Galashiels) Squadron alongside the RAF Reserves.
