Braw Lads’ Gathering

Everyone associated with the Braw Lads’ Gathering was very saddened to hear of the passing of Ex-Braw Lad David Brydon.

David was Braw Lad in 1963, following in the footsteps of his father, Walter, who held the same honour in 1934. He remained a staunch supporter of the Gathering throughout his life and was a past Chairman of the Ex-Braw Lads’ and Lasses’ Association.

In more recent times, David was delighted to see his grandson, Cameron, chosen as Braw Lad in 2025, continuing the family’s proud association with the Gathering.

David married Marvyn Clark, the Braw Lass of 1967, and our sincere condolences go out to Marvyn and all the family at this very sad time.

Due to rotational retirement there are still vacancies on the Braw Lads’ Executive Council; these are open to anyone who would be interested in assisting with the running of the Braw Lads’ Gathering.

You don’t have to be a past Principal, or have had any previous connection with the Gathering, we are just looking for enthusiastic people who are supportive of the Gathering and, in their own way, would like to be involved in the organisation of the town’s historical event and the events attached to the Gathering itself.

Last Thursday, Chairman of the Braw Lads’ Executive Council, Yvonne Keddie, alongside representatives of other towns and areas, laid thistles at the Flodden Memorial in memory of those who fell from their towns at the battle on the 9th of September 1513.

Our Principals were in Coldstream on Thursday, supporting Coldstreamer Josh Kerr on the ride out to Flodden!

Braw Lad Ruaridh, Braw Lass Chloe, Jamie, and Becca were on horseback whilst Hannah was supporting on foot 🏁
