Lord Burgh's Retinue

Lord Burgh's Retinue A late medieval period re-enactment society, dedicated to the recreation of a Lord’s household during the Wars of the Roses (c. 1460-1490)

We are a late medieval period re-enactment society, dedicated to the recreation of the life and times of a Lord’s household during the period known as the Wars of the Roses (c. 1460-1490). We are non-profit making and our members are all volunteers; re-enactment is our hobby – not a job! If you fancy a go you can always join us. Come along to an event and we will welcome you to the world of Sir Th

omas Burgh, his family, his household and his daily life! Our members have actual positions and jobs within the household. Many of the men train with weapons of war from our period, such as the sword, bill, longbow, crossbow and handegonne, whilst acting within the household as as Pantler, Porter or Butler. Others concentrate on the non military jobs such as Chaplains, clerks and musicians. Our ladies portray the Wisewoman, Cooks, Laundresses, Nuns, Ladies-in-Waiting, members of the Burgh family and even Lady Burgh herself. Although we hold events all over Lincolnshire and beyond, our spiritual home is Gainsborough Old Hall. We’d love to see you there some time; it really is an amazing place to experience.
