Mercer Wood Community Group Gainsborough We are a community project in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire (UK). Mercer wood occupies an area, next to the river Trent in Gainsborough.

Nearly two centuries ago, the land was owned by the Mercer family, prominent business people in the town. They built and ran the Union Mill, a wind powered oil-seed processing mill on the land beside the river.

Summer vibes are still lingering, how about a lovely walk through the woods.

To keep the wildlife and plants safe and healthy, please can we remind you that if you see litter, or drop it yourself to pick it up and throw it into a bin. If there is no bin nearby, take it with you.

Leave no trace, no I in team, so if we all work together we get better results.

The woods are there for all to enjoy, if you walk your dog(s) through there, please pick up after them.

Please respect the woods.
