Hull Road Park is jam-packed with activities this October:
🧚♀️ Every Wednesday (12pm-2pm) in the Choose2 Cafe, The Fairy Trail Group get a bit crafty making all sorts of magical ornaments for the upcoming launch of the park fairy trail.
🥦 Thursday 8th (10:30am-2:30pm) The Conservation Volunteers are holding a fruit and veg swap that will run alongside their Thursday Gardening and Woodworking groups. If you have any leftover veg you don’t want to go to waste, you can find the swap stall just outside the park pavilion.
🍂 Every Thursday morning (10am-1pm), the Gardening Group volunteers will be pruning overhanging foliage on the paths, raking leaves, and putting up nesting boxes ready for winter. You’ll also see the Choose2 volunteers litter picking and trimming hedges. To take part, visit us at the park pavilion on Thursdays or find our email at the bottom of this post.
🪚 Every Thursday afternoon (1:30pm-2:30pm) the Woodworking group are making garden planters for a local Care Home and animal nest boxes for Hull Road Park, if you’re interested in woodworking, pop down and see us at the park pavilion!
🪺 Every Friday morning (10am-12pm) our Wild Fridays volunteers will be working hard getting the park ready for winter. You might see us in the various habitat areas in the park making natural birdfeeder and collecting nesting materials, or in the Wellbeing Orchard pruning the fruit trees.
🎃 On Saturday 17th October (10:30am-12:30pm) the Young Rangers group are carving pumpkins and playing games in the Choose2 Cafe. Learn all about animals and make new friends. For ages 10-15. If your child is interested in joining, contact Rachel at [email protected]
🕯 Saturday 24th October sees the return of last year's Lantern Festival event! From 3pm-5pm, come down to the park pavilion and make a paper lantern and enjoy a free jacket potato from the Choose2 Cafe. Then at 5pm, we’ll put tealights in our lanterns and go on a parade through the park! This event is suitable for all ages (with parental supervision for under 10s).
We’ll also be having the grand opening of Hull Road Park’s very own fairy trail! After you’ve made your paper lanterns, why not explore the trail and see how many fairies you can find?
From 4:30pm we’ll be judging the Best Jack O’Lanterns! Bring your already carved or painted Jack O’Lanterns to the event and enter them in the competition. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
