Artmusic’s work is meticulous in detail, in the belief that the part is as important as the whole. Artmusic does not prescribe how the work is experienced – chance, environment, beauty and accessibility have equal weight in the creation of each piece. Since its formation in 1999 Artmusic has produced nine major projects involving visual art, video, word, music and performance. Artmusic’s lead arti

st, composer Helen Ottaway, is known for her ability to orchestrate a space, whether built or natural and, with sound designer Alastair Goolden, specialises in work which gives the public an active and enhanced experience of their environment (e.g. Recent projects include The City Sings (2010), a year long participatory project commissioned by mac to celebrate the reopening of the refurbished arts centre in Birmingham and Moving Home Music (2010) involving street performances with a brass band in Somerset. Great to be working with Rook Lane Arts Trust delivering RING OUT for Frome Festival and thank you festival for featuring our project so prominently with a whole page in the brochure and bells on the cover.

Ring out the bells at the Frome Festival

Ring Out, a bell-founding and ringing celebration project, is to take place during the Frome Festival, thanks to Heritage Fund grant.

Ring Out is a new project by Rook Lane Arts Trust and Artmusic and is a celebration of bell founding and bell ringing, and has been awarded a grant by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Funding has also been received from the Frome Society for Local Study and Frome Town Council mayor’s fund.

Ring Out will form part of this year’s Frome Festival with 13 events taking place across the 10 days.

There will be walks, talks, concerts and tours. Listen out for the Frome Carillon ringing the hours from above the market square; visit a local bell tower or a bell engineering works, and try your hand at hand-bell ringing or even ring a tower bell.
