Thank you Raves From The Grave :-)

Our Studio Time is here!

It's almost two years since Coldplay rehearsed at the Cheese and Grain for their Glastonbury Festival headline show.

It was Coldplay, who after visiting the Bert Jansch Studio in Frome, said they would like to give something back to the local community.

They said why don’t we fund for young people to have studio time in the Bert Jansch Studio.

Coldplay donated £10,000, plus we helped raise a further £4000 through the Coldplay signed album raffle.

Young People Frome have used the £14,0000 donated to enable 180 young people, across 19 sessions, to have the chance to experience what it's like to write and record a song from scratch, in a professional recording studio.

This is the result of those sessions!

All money raised from the sale of these CDs be go straight back to Young People Frome to enable them to continue the sessions and purchase equipment.

What a night of celebration, the launch of Our Studio Time, the Album that Coldplay funded, that enabled 180 young people to come together over 19 studio sessions and create 19 tracks. Last night saw 4 solo music acts (Jess Williams, Aleksei Lichter, Freya Dalgarno and Alfie Cronin and 3 jam session performances from audience participation. An incredible night of Youth Music at its most creative, celebrating Youth Arts, supported by Raves From The Grave, The Cheese and Grain, Coldplay and Young People Frome. With the incredible schools and colleges of Somerset that participated along with Youth Organisations that support young people, such as Route1 Advocacy & Independent Visitors and Purple Elephant - Frome. More film and photos are on their way :-) A fantastic night enjoyed by all :-)

Young People Frome and The Cheese and Grain are very excited to announce "OUTPOST" a unique Young Peoples Creative Arts Development Programme funded by the incredible Youth Music trailblazer fund.

OUTPOST is for young people 14-25yrs located on/around the boarder of Frome, covering Somerset, BANES & Wiltshire.

Young People Frome's, Bert Jansch Studio Music Development Programme, funded by Coldplay, in a unique partnership with Raves From The Grave, Cheese and Grain and the Bert Jansch Studio.
For the final session of the programme, Young People Frome invited an organisation that supports young people. What a morning of creativity on Sunday 30th November, from an incredibly creative group of Young People who work with a brilliant organisation Route1 Advocacy & Independent Visitors. This session offered the choice for young people to work in the live room to write & record a song of their own or for young people to work with Route1 staff in the Drum room. It was wonderful to see the studio being used in several different ways, supporting young people to play and enjoy music. Yet another fantastic Session! 🙂
Here is the recording and music video of their session, it just demonstrates the kind of creativity that can be achieved when given such an opportunity.
The group did an amazing job, writing, playing and recording their own song, in just 4hrs. Title of the track is "Every Cloud".
Well done to everyone who participated in this creative experience, a big thank you to Young People Frome Volunteer Keira (who filmed the session) and Oliver, who volunteered as studio assistant to Huge, the Bert Jansch studio engineer, who worked so hard to prep the studio and capture the creative music process and produce the track. Thanks also to Young People Frome volunteer Louis Clarke, the guitar volunteer. And not to mention the staff and volunteers from Route1 Advocacy & Independent Visitors, supporting the group through this whole experience. 🙂

And what an incredible event/day we had at the Frome Multicultural Festival. Here is a short film that captures 74 countries all sharing and celebrating their diversity and culture. Looking forward to next years :-)

Now into the final phase of the programme, Young People Frome invited organisations that support young people into the studio. What a morning of creativity on Sunday 30th November, from an incredibly creative group of Purple Elephant - Frome Youth Club members. This session was part of their youth club programme, a youth club studio session! Yet another fantastic Session! 🙂
Here is the recording and music video of their youth club session, it just demonstrates the kind of creativity that can be achieved when given such an opportunity.
The group did an amazing job, writing, playing and recording their own song, in just 4hrs. Title of the track is "Seasons".

Young People Frome's, Bert Jansch Studio Music Development Programme, funded by Coldplay, in a unique partnership with Raves From The Grave, Cheese and Grain and the Bert Jansch Studio.
Chritchill School's 16+pupils came and had a 4hour session on the morning of Friday 28th November. The first group of 10 pupils created an incredible sound scape, Huge the sound engineer said it's one of the best sessions he experienced. The groups music was themed on space and the moon.
What an incredibly creative groupof Critchill School pupils!!!! yet another fantastic School Session! 🙂
