Such a perfect evening for our garden visit……warm sunshine at a superb venue…White Goose Flower Farm @ Little Dalby! On our arrival we were all met by their dear little dog as he welcomed us all sitting on hay bales in the garden! Then a fascinating talk by the owner Fleur on soil management, & how we should all look after our gardens, and then see the difference in our flower & vegetables….looking around us it was obvious, incredible plants everywhere!…..
A lovely evening to celebrate 65 years of our club!
Then, a glorious wander round the gorgeous walled garden enjoying the amazing mixtures of flowers…scented sweetpeas, alchemilla, roses, and if you wanted you could pick your own favourites to take home!
What a place to visit overlooking beautiful fields…on a perfect summers evening! Thank you Fleur!
Then to the Stilton Cheese pub in Somerby for a lovely meal to round off a thoroughly a perfect English summer evening!!

Petra, one of our Flower Club committee members had a great idea, that as the club do flowers for Gretton Court warden assisted accommodation for local elderly people every week, they might like to do some flower arranging themselves. They all love making a Christmas flower arrangement for their own rooms, so several volunteers enjoyed an afternoon helping as they made small arrangements in a teacup and saucer. All very different but they were thrilled with their efforts and happy to take them back to their rooms!
Friendship through flowers!! 🌸🌷😍🌹🥰🌻🪻

Sunshine on its way.!!!….and a welcome back to one of the most highly regarded flower demonstrators in the Midlands, Lee Berrill from Northampton. His title ‘Back to the future’ was specially for our club as it is our 65th anniversary since it was started in May 1961 by Esme Folwell from Frisby on the Wreake. His flowers were superb, strong and fresh , and the foliage too made for a special evening for us all, as his arrangements were for various anniversaries, from Paper to Sapphire!

The Sales table is getting increasingly popular, and with all the proceeds going to charity, LOROS…..it is amazing how many members brought seedlings for the garden, veg plants and anything garden related! Next month is our garden outing on Tuesday June 16th, followed by a buffet supper at The Stilton Cheese, Sowerby…if you want to join us, please ring Ruth to be on the list, our Treasurers tel.no. is on the back of our flower programme…
A good forecast for the next week, do enjoy your gardens!

Well, the joys of walking round the garden when May arrives, and the beauty of the trees and colours…in all their glory…..!! Summer is just round the corner now!
We look forward to welcoming you all and your friends too, to our May flower demonstration next Tuesday 19th, 7pm for a 7.30 start in our Frisby Village hall….as we look forward to seeing Lee Berrill from Northampton entertain us with his evening called……
‘Back to the future’!!
Tea and coffee served when you arrive….
Do remember our new Sales table has some lovely flower/garden things for sale…all the money goes to LOROS hospice! Vegetable plants and seedlings too, as well as anything garden orientated! Do bring anything that would help such a worthy cause!
My favourite tree in May is always a horse chestnut…the white one but especially the pink ones, ours grown from a conker 20 years ago!!

The title of our flower meeting on Tuesday was….’Awesome April’…….
And it was just that!! What a night we had!!

We were blessed that we had booked Helen Chambers of Evolve Flowers to
entertain us with stories of her fascinating decision to grow bulbs and plants in a water based way: ranunculus, tulips grape hyacinths, alstromaria, and so many others, and everything she used in her designs were so fresh, from her suppliers to Evolve….all British flowers!!!!
Our members were overwhelmed at the end of the evening to win 20+ raffle prizes of her designs, none in oasis! So many happy faces holding such beautiful arrangements!

It was a special evening too as we rembered our lovely late Queen Elizabeth on what would have been her hundredth birthday. Helen made a beautiful red, white and blue arrangement….and then out of the blue invited some members to go to the stage and be given hats and flags to wave as we all sang happy birthday! It was lovely too, as our lovely chairman Gillian’s birthday was the next day, so she enjoyed the Frisby Flower Choir too!!
Actually we sounded really quite good!!
The rose crown done by Flower Club is now in Frisby Church, if anyone wants to pop in and have a peep!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

What a joy it is…..to wake up to blue skies and sunshine!!
A walk round the garden and all the colours of March, the yellows and creams have gone now….and April is full of brilliant blue from a carpet of bluebells, forget me not, all made even more beautiful by the burst of lime greeen of the new foliage, lime trees and euphorbia!!
Enjoy it all while it lasts!!
Next week, on Tuesday 21st April we can all look forward to a super demonstration from Helen Chambers who comes from Spalding…..
Do come and bring a friend if you like, visitors always most welcome!
Frisby Village hall doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 start, tea & coffee served when you arrive!
Looking forward to a lovely evening of flowers, fun and friendship!!

Hope you are enjoying the lovely Easter weather, after all the awful, cold winds and rain over the past months! I also hope you enjoy The wonderful hellebore Easter door wreath made by the lovely Paula at Floral Media…permission to use the photo happily given , and she hopes we all have a go at making something similar!
Have you all enjoyed how wonderful the magnolia trees are at the moment…despite the weather. Ours is 45 years old and was given to us when we moved here….apparently they were very popular after the First World War, and my Grampa decided everyone in the family should have one and enjoy them!!
Keep enjoying your gardens and see you on Tuesday 21st April at our Spring meeting!
