200 — A Celebration of Frimley

200 is a brand-new local play celebrating 200 years of St Peter’s Church in Frimley and the fascinating lives, loves, struggles and stories of the people who lived and worked in our village through the generations.

Bringing local history to life with warmth, humour and plenty of heart, the play explores the people behind the history — their hopes, dreams, relationships and everyday lives — reminding us that while times may change, the human stories that connect us remain the same.

Come and celebrate Frimley’s remarkable history with us at St Peter’s Church Hall.

Today I'm shining a light on Brightlight Theatre, an award-winning community theatre company based in Frimley.

Here's the thing: this isn't a paid, professional production company. It's amateur dramatics. But the care and pride they put into their work makes every single show look like it came from a fully paid, polished production company. You can see it in the awards they've picked up along the way.

What really got me was how welcoming they are to new members. There's no gatekeeping, no cliques, just genuine openness to anyone who wants to be part of what they're building. And when you sit in on a rehearsal, you see it properly: the effort, the dedication, the pride, the sheer ability they bring to every single show.

There's something else worth knowing: at least 10% of ticket sales from every Brightlight production goes to KatCanDo, a local cancer charity supporting people in their own community. Buying a ticket isn't just a night out, it's a genuine act of support.

Their next show, "200," a brand new play written in collaboration with the local community, is on 29th August at St Peter's Church Hall, Frimley. If you're local, go and support them. Community theatre like this doesn't survive without people turning up.

We're so excited to announce that our production of The Aviary won the award for Technical Excellence at the National Drama Festival earlier today! We also picked up nominations for Best Actor (Liam) and Best Actress (Megan) and a nomination for the Adjudicator Award for our cardboard cutout props.

It's been an amazing festival this year - huge congrats to the Brightlight team who did so brilliantly, and to all the other groups who showcased outstanding theatre this weekend. In particular to Broadsword Theatre who won the festival and TACT-Total Arts Community Theatre who were the runners up.
