Me Brother Dan Memorial Unveiling – Sunday 15 November

A special service will take place at 10:45 on Sunday 15 November in Weston Park, in front of the York and Lancaster Regiment Memorial, to unveil a newly commissioned memorial honouring the famous poem Me Brother Dan.

Written here in Sheffield in 2016 by Molly Meleady-Hanley, the poem holds a special place in the city's military heritage. Molly is expected to attend this significant occasion.

Veterans and Standard Bearers are warmly encouraged to attend in support of this important event. It would be wonderful to see as many veterans and standards present as possible to mark this special moment and pay tribute to the poem's legacy.

Following the service, an official reception will be held at Weston Park Museum. Unfortunately, due to limited capacity, attendance at the reception will be by invitation only.

Please make every effort to attend the service and show your support for this important tribute to Sheffield's military heritage.

We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Hi all so its coming to that time of the year again, the poppy appeal is upon us and we start collecting on Saturday the 24th of October for 2 weeks. We have stalls at the Charity desk in Crystal peaks, Marks and Spencers in Crystal Peaks, Sainsbury's at Crystal Peaks and Morrisons at Halfway.
As always we need as many volunteers as possible to help out especially during weekdays when cadets and branch members are at school and work.
If interested in helping please drop us a message on here or come to see us at our stall at Sainsbury's Crystal Peaks it would be lovely to have you along.

All set up at Norfolk Park for the Sheffield Heritage show from 10.30am to 5pm this evening.

Yesterday we had the honour of attending the 100th birthday of Frank Green who served in Belgium and Germany during the WW2 in the Yorks and Lancs regiment and when the war was over he served a further 4 year in the Royal Engineers in Egypt, Palestine and the Suez Canal. There was even an appearance from Tony Currie with Frank beinf a lifelong Sheffield United fan.

Thanks to Richmond Heights care home for inviting us and the Alistair the piper for being available at very short notice and also to Denise Fox our armed forces champion for helping to organise the event.
