🩵💕Supporting Men In Mind 🩵💕

Last nicht, we were incredibly proud to present a donation of £500 from Grateful Hearts to Bob Dunbar, Marten Ritchie and James Hadden from Men In Mind North.

Men In Mind provides peer-to-peer mental health support groups for men, creating safe, welcoming spaces where men can talk, listen, connect, and support one another without judgement. Their mission is simple but powerful: to help men who may be struggling with their mental health know that they are not alone.

Bob Dunbar and Doug Parker have been running the Ellon group for the past year, also the one at Haddo, and more recently have worked hard to bring this much-needed support into our own community at NESCOL Fraserburgh, which has now been running for the past six weeks, held at our local college every Thursday from 6.30pm.

The dedication, compassion and commitment shown by all the volunteers involved is truly inspiring. They are helping to break down the stigma around men’s mental health, encouraging men to reach out, share their experiences, and find strength through connection and support.

At Grateful Hearts, we are passionate about supporting organisations that make a real difference in people’s lives, and we couldn’t think of a more deserving cause. We are honoured to play a small part in helping Men In Mind continue their fantastic work and support the men in our communities.

Please give Men In Mind a follow on Facebook and help spread awareness of the amazing work they do. And if you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the lovely Bob Dunbar or Doug Parker. Sometimes the hardest step is the first one, but you don’t have to face things alone.

Massive thank you to Bob, Doug, Marten, James and everyone involved with Men In Mind for everything you do. We are so very proud of you guys 🩵

Best wishes for the future

🌊🏄‍♂️Grateful Hearts Donates £500 to Broch Surf Club 🏄‍♀️🌊

Today, Sharon and I had the absolute pleasure of meeting three incredibly talented local young surfers – Gabe Noble, Callie Cruickshank and Kai Cruickshank (unfortunately many other talented kids from the club wasn’t available tonight) to present Broch Surf Club with a donation of £500 to support the fantastic work they do within our community.

Broch Surf Club was founded by oor Sheena’s husband Pete Strachan, Malcom Findlay, Iain Masson, Billy Duncan, Duncan Kerr, Peter McKay and Wullie Tait. The club traces its origins back to 1974, when the first competitive surfing event was held in the town. The club was established that same year, and in 2025 celebrated the 50th anniversary of both the club and the first Scottish national surfing event held in the Broch. Prior to that, surfing pioneer and local skipper Wullie Tait was the first to introduce our town to surfing after bringing back a surfboard from a trip to California way back in 1968!

Since then, Broch Surf Club has played an important role in the development of Scottish surfing, hosting events and helping to produce many Scottish surfing champions throughout the years.

This voluntarily run club, which is dedicated to introducing more young people to the sport of surfing, provides a platform for gaining surf advice, training opportunities, building confidence, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and historically offering ‘try me’ surf sessions for those experiencing surfing for the very first time. Their work helps young people develop skills, friendships, resilience and a real connection to the outdoors and our beautiful North East coast 🌊

We are proud to support a club that gives so much back to the Fraserburgh community and creates opportunities for the next generation of surfers to thrive. The £500 will go towards the next planned surf tournament that the Broch will be hosting in October where they hope to encourage kids from all over Scotland to attend and by promoting this their hope is that more local kids spectating the event will encourage them to give surfing a try 🤩

With ‘try me’ surf sessions for local youngsters also planned in the near future there will be opportunity for local youngsters to get involved in the sport.

🌊 You can still help! 🌊

Broch Surf Club is currently taking part in the Tesco Fraserburgh Stronger Starts Community Grant Scheme until July. If you’re shopping in Tesco Fraserburgh, please remember to place your blue token in the Broch Surf Club voting box. Every token helps them secure additional funding 💙

A huge well done to everyone involved with the club and thank you for everything you do for our local young people. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Broch Surf Club and to watch these talented young surfers grow into the next generation of local stars and national champions 🤩🌊🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌍

💖 A Special Donation to Fraserburgh Hospital Stroke Rehabilitation Unit 💖

This morning we had the pleasure of meeting with Senior Charge Nurse Tracy and therapist Gemma at the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Fraserburgh Hospital to present a donation of £1,000 in support of the incredible work they do.

The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit provides specialist care and rehabilitation for people recovering from stroke. Their dedicated multidisciplinary team works tirelessly to help patients regain strength, mobility, confidence, communication skills, and independence following a stroke. They also provide ongoing support and guidance to patients and their families throughout their recovery journey.

We are delighted that this donation will be used to purchase new essential equipment for patients on the ward, helping to enhance rehabilitation, support recovery, and improve the overall patient experience.

It was a privilege to learn more about the vital services they provide and to see first-hand the compassion, dedication, and commitment shown by the staff every day.

At Grateful Hearts, we are passionate about supporting local causes and organisations that make a real difference within our community, and we are proud to contribute towards the amazing work being carried out by the team at Fraserburgh Hospital.

A huge thank you to Tracy, Gemma and all the staff for the outstanding care, encouragement, and hope they provide to stroke survivors and their families every day.
