This year we will be celebrating our 10th year as your local Community First Responders. Without the amazing support we have received over these 10 years we would not have become the busiest scheme in Scotland, covering the largest area of approximately 400 square miles! That is an amazing feat for a small team of 12.
We are a small charity and need to continuously raise funds as we are self funded, meaning that with the exception of consumables, (oxygen, masks and bandages) we have to provide all our own equipment that is required to be a responder. That includes defibs, pads, response bag, oxygen bags, blood pressure machines, thermometers, spo2 readers and our uniform to name some of the things!
Due to the kindness of your donations and our fundraising, we managed to purchase 10 individual kits which makes life so much easier for our responders. We purchased 10 Mediana defibs which are light and had easy access to switch between different age groups that may need a defib. Sadly we have just found out that this company will no longer be supplying defibs or their consumables (pads and batteries) to the UK market. We should be able to get pads for the next year hopefully from companies that already have these items in stock. So we will need to do a lot of fundraising to replace these defibs over the coming year or so.
This is where you come in!!!!
We are looking for volunteers who would like to
1. Consider joining our Charity Committee
2. Become a fabulous fundraiser 😁
Whether you are good at completing grant applications or organising quiz nights or just would like to help out in the background we would love to hear from you. We would ideally like to have a fundraising team who can be a group separate from the responders. It is asking a lot of our responders to train every week for 3 hours then provide on call hours and we are also available to respond as cardiac responders too which is additional hours. We then struggle to get ourselves organized to fundraise too hence us asking for your help.
Our team does also seem to have a habit of gaining responders then losing them within a couple of years to join the Scottish Ambulance Service. We have had around 6 leave to become either Technicians or Paramedics including two of our current responders who are waiting to go to uni to become paramedics. (We are obviously extremely proud of these guys and every one of our responders 🥰)
As we cover a large area we would be more than happy to accept any help from
Peterhead
Mintlaw
St Fergus
Longside
New/Old Deer
Maud
Stuartfield
Gamrie
And all the places inbetween 🫣😉
If you have made it till the end thankyou so very much for taking the time to read this post. If anyone is able to help us out with joining our Charity or becoming a fabulous fundraiser then please either message our page or send an email to
[email protected]
We also will provide you with first aid training (not accredited) or giving talks for free about what we do. Just ask ☺️
