Also this week I was invited to the Gloucestershire Police Headquarters. Their UNISON reps were holding a Wellness week for their staff and highlighted Happy Handbags as a scheme to support during this week! I spent an amazing day at the HQ on Thursday. I will give more details next week. But what I will say now is 'Thank you' to the Unison Team and all staff who supported Happy Handbag!

Busy week this week. On Wednesday I was invited to the Nelson Trust, Swindon, official opening of their refurbished centre. Amazing resource, and staff. Listened to a number of speakers but the 2 most amazing ones were from ladies who had been clients of this womens support centre. So many of us have no idea of what some ladies go through. These 2 ladies were the lucky ones who had the support from Nelson Trust to come out the other side of their very challenging situation. This centre had 20 Happy Handbags and 10 bags/sacks of clothing dropped off to them. Eastwood Park had 15 Happy Handbags.

So much for slowing down a bit - 35 Happy Handbags and 30 bags/sacks clothing and stuff went out yesterday.... A very interesting meeting with the Eddystone Trust too.
Please note we are coming up to Christmas time. From about mid November and into December the Service Providers get huge donations from everywhere and they run out of space. So DONATIONS GIVEN TO HAPPY HANDBAG DURING THIS TIME WILL, MOST PROBABLY, BE PUT INTO STORAGE AT BIG YELLOW in Gloucester for delivery during the lean, cold months of January and February. Car filled up with Happy Handbags to take to CHURN in Cirencester this week. Now to start filling more - Eastwood Park, Julian Trust and Night Angels will probably be needing some very shortly..........

I had quite a day on Tuesday. First to Severnside WI in Quedgeley for a HH talk. What a lovely group of ladies - thank you for all your donations. Then round to Bev in Quedgeley, Olympus Park Nutrition; we had a lovely chat about complementary therapies, nutrition and heath. Ending up with 'Mazing' Mandie where she had a huge collection of toiletries for the Handbags. So much positivity in a very challenging World - Thank You!

Since writing the last update, last week, I've had more charities contact me for help. Things are getting so difficult and resources so stretched that I'm having to rethink on clothing. Please, if you have clothing you wish to donate, and you know that there is still plenty of wear left in them, then please contact me so we can discuss this further. Our help and donations seem to be needed now more than ever so please let's work together to help as best we can with the limited resource that I have (my limiting age and finances lol.......)

From September (2026) Happy Handbags will be gratefully accepting suitable toiletries for Happy Handbags plus underwear and childrens’ clothing. Please read below to find out why….

I have been thinking long and hard about this but I think that the time has come to simply concentrate on Happy Handbag and greatly restrict Happy Bags. This is very sad but, due to age and health, I’m having to cut back on what I do. The black sacks of bedding and clothing are simply becoming too much for me to manage.

Last week Happy Handbags called into Second Chance Charity shop in Cirencester where Sue had 8 bags of donations waiting for me(!) - toiletries and underwear - all so needed. Thank you to all who donated to Happy Handbag through Second Chance. Happy Handbags and clothing going out to Nelson Trust Bristol this week and clothing etc to Family Haven Gloucester. Next week starts with Happy Handbags to Nelson Trust Swindon. The number of talks being requested are reducing so donations of toiletries are slowing. More are needed for forthcoming donations going to Julian Trust, Eastwood Park and the Night Angels in the next few weeks....... Thanks to Mandie in Gloucester I have a regular supply coming in from there but I find that I'm buying products every other week. We order them with our fortnightly delivery from Morrisons. The delivery driver last week jokingly stated 'these products are either on special offer or going to a charity' ..... another chance to spread the word... Again, thanks to all who donate - I really can't do this without you ....... As always - 'Thank you Big Yellow Storage in Gloucester' I can't do this without you either!!
