Fowey River Lions President, Kevin Rouse, was delighted to accept the Spirit of Fowey award from Mayor Simms yesterday. The award recognises everyone within the Lions team today and over the last 49 years for their contribution to those in need within the community. Thank you to Mayor Simms and to everyone who has been part of our Lions family over the years. We are honoured to be recognised in this way.

Some quick answers to the more frequent questions we get:
Q1. Is this open to anyone?
A1. Anyone living in the Fowey River Lions area - which encompasses all the villages on both sides of the river, up to and including Lostwithiel, and west as far as Par railway line.
Q2. Does this have to be for a charity?
A2. No. Grants can be given to all sorts of different things - for example, it can be to support an event, the purchase of equipment for a group, or simply to support someone in need.
Q3. Does my grant need to be publicised?
A3. No, we will respect confidentiality if requested.
Q4. How does the submission get evaluated?
A4. The Fowey River Lions carefully review all submissions and decide the winners.

Hopefully this helps but if you have any questions not answered here, please message or email us. Good luck.

Our lovely book exchange phone box (across the road from Safe Harbour, Fowey) has just been restocked with some cracking books - why not drop in and see if there is something of interest?

It’s free to take a book, but you can make a voluntary donation via the QR code that can be found inside the box.

We still have plenty of books in our store - so no book donations are needed for now thanks.

A perfect day to welcome our first cruise shop of the year. Looks like summer is very nearly upon us. Well done to the cruise volunteers who were visibly about town today helping the visitors.

Today, at a wonderful lunch at Royal Fowey Yacht Club, the Fowey River Lions celebrated 49 years of helping those in need in the Fowey River Valley. Thank you to all FRL Members past and present for all the great things they have done for our community.

As we enter our 50th year, we need your help - we are looking for local people to join and strengthen our team. Contact us and find out how you can give back to those in need in the area.
