Here are some mental health statistics for 2024:
UK adults
Over 1 in 7 UK adults say their mental health is poor or the worst it's ever been. Women are more likely to struggle with poor mental health than men (18.5% vs 12.5%).
Workplace mental health
14.7% of people experience mental health problems at work. 81% of workplaces have increased their focus on employee mental health, but 1 in 3 employees still feel that support is inadequate.

27% of adults who have difficulty paying their rent or mortgage have moderate to severe depressive symptoms. Adults living in the most deprived areas of England are 25% more likely to have moderate to severe depressive symptoms.
Mental health and LGBTQIA+
LGBTQIA+ people are 2–3 times more likely to report having a mental health problem than heterosexual people.
Mental health and Black or Black British people
23% of Black or Black British people will experience a common mental health problem in any given week.
Waiting times for talking therapies
The average waiting time for a first treatment in England is 21.7 days, and the average waiting time between first and second treatment is 62.5 days.
