DYW Moray have shared an invitation to FABA members and other businesses to the Workforce North Apprenticeship Expansion Event on 15th September 2026 at UHI Moray, beginning at 8:30am.

Register Your Attendance and find out more through the link below.

"This event is open to all employers, businesses, public sector organisations, third sector organisations and partners across Moray, regardless of sector, size or whether you currently employ apprentices. We are particularly keen to hear from organisations that are new to apprenticeships, as well as those with established apprenticeship programmes. Whether you currently employ apprentices or are simply interested in exploring the possibilities, your experiences, insights and perspectives are invaluable in helping shape future workforce opportunities across Moray. The event forms part of the ambition to increase apprenticeship starts across our region and ensure employers have access to the support they need to build their future workforce.

Importantly, this is not a typical event explaining what an apprenticeship is. Instead, the event has been designed around learnings, discussion, collaboration and practical solutions to the workforce challenges employers face today. Local employers have told us they need support to attract talent, develop skills, improve retention and plan for future workforce demand, and this event will bring together stakeholders and explore how apprenticeships can help address them.

Throughout the event, you will hear from employers who have successfully introduced apprenticeships, apprentices sharing their experiences, and workforce specialists who can provide practical guidance on recruitment, new funding opportunities specifically for Moray and the Highlands and Islands, workforce planning, and training support. There will also be opportunities to participate in round-table discussions and speak directly with experts. These conversations are designed to give employers practical answers and tailored support rather than simply delivering presentations.

A key message we want employers to take away is that apprenticeships are for people of all ages and career stages, not just young people entering the workforce. They can be used to recruit new talent, upskill existing employees, support career progression, address skills gaps and strengthen succession planning within organisations. Apprenticeships can play an important role in helping businesses develop the skilled workforce they need now and in the future.

Whether you currently employ apprentices, are considering apprenticeships for the first time, or simply want to contribute to the discussion around workforce development in Moray, we would be delighted to see you there."

We had a wonderful evening last week learning how to use Lego Serious Play to address business issues. The range of models build to represent different topics was fascinating. Common themes, such as communication, were represented in many different ways despite the fact we all had the same set of bricks.
Thank you, Lindsay of Findhorn Bay Arts, for leading, Alex of Flying Mirrors for the photos and Cafe 1496 for hosting us.
