A shout out to all the young people from Lochside Academy who have been mentoring the children in Loirston Primary school in Aberdeen. Thank you to Sarah Chew (CEO, Wood Foundation), Craig Singer (Youth Work Manager, Aberdeen City Council) and David McNally (Guidance, Lochside Ac) for visiting this programme at Loirston Primary today, hearing from the young people on why they joined Growing2gether, what they got out of the 16 week mentoring experience (SCQF level 4) and their next steps and aspirations.
Gratitude to all the team at Loirston Primary for hosting us and sharing the impact you are seeing in both the children being mentored and the teenage mentors.
Today reminded me that in a world so often dominated by technology, screen time and the virtual world, what we often crave is genuine human relations. Today was one of those days that you feel honored to witness such goodness in the world...sometimes its the simple things that are the most profound :) Special thanks goes to Kelly, Lorna (Growing2gether facilitators) and Cameron (Aberdeen City CLD Youth work team) who make this all happen.

Powering change for Scotland's youth: Growing2gether has won significant funding from the SSE Renewables Highland Sustainable Development Fund!
This support will help us serve 20 mentoring projects, benefiting 160 young people and another 160 nursery/primary children from five schools: Kingussie High School, Tain Academy, Thurso High School, Fortrose Academy and Dingwall Academy.
A huge thank you to SSE Renewables for supporting projects like ours! 💚

Thank you to Sarah Robertson M.CLDSC and YouthLink Scotland for creating this case study showing the impact that Growing2gethers' Nursery Mentoring programme has on the teenagers and children, as well as the integral collaboration and partnership working with schools and youth work teams who help make this all happen. A special thanks to Tim Frew and Gill Gracie for putting us forward for this case study.

It was lovely to work alongside Gavin Morgan to create a case study that brings to life the impact of volunteering and youth work. Spending time understanding this work reminded me why I care so deeply about youth work in the first place. When it’s done well, especially in partnership with schools...

We’re thrilled to announce we have received funding from the SSEN Transmission Regional Fund!
Over two years, this will enable Growing2gether to reach 8 deprived communities in Inverness, Alness, Elgin and Aberdeen.
It will build the mental health, life skills and qualifications of 240 young people facing disadvantage, and create leaders who contribute positively to their communities. ‘We know that when young people find their voice and come together, they don’t just build a community – they become the force that transforms it.’ Gavin Morgan, Co-CEO, Growing2gether.
