Wild things! Environmental Education in Action

Wild things! Environmental Education in Action Wild things! is an award winning environmental education charity based in Moray, Scotland. For over 10 years, Wild things!

is a Scottish environmental education charity seeking to provide wilderness and nature experiences for all regardless of learning, physical or financial challenges. has successfully delivered quality outdoor learning experiences that encourage a greater custodianship of the outdoors, as well as opportunities for life-changing personal development. Over 10,000 children, young people and adults have

benefited from opportunities to learn from, and be inspired by, their local natural environment and the remote wilderness regions of Scotland. We have developed a range of programmes that encourage a “mutually beneficial relationship” between individuals and their natural environment. We believe that conservation efforts are significantly more effective if people get to know their local natural environment through exciting, stimulating and hands on activities that provide the opportunity for them to understand, appreciate and care for the natural environment whilst acquiring new skills, confidence, and interests. We work with all ages and abilities, from eager five year olds to elderly adventurers, providing outdoor education through school programmes and holiday camps, weekend escapes and accredited skills courses. will continue to provide the opportunity for all individuals to get out into nature for the benefit of their personal wellbeing as well as for the benefit of the natural environment. Wild Things’ Habitat Restoration Project spot spraying the Giant Hogweed along the River Findhorn north of Forres will be starting up again this week. Our volunteers and staff have made significant inroads into wiping out this invasive non-native plant in our target area over the last 12 years, and we would love to welcome new volunteers to this project. If you have a basic level of fitness and are able to walk over uneven ground in wellies carrying a spray pack with herbicide (we provide all the kit and protective equipment), and are available on Thursdays (you don’t have to come along every Thursday, any Thursdays you can offer will be helpful) please get in touch with Wild Things for more information or to sign up as a volunteer.
