We had a great coffee morning at Dallas yesterday, once again filling the hall. A big thank you to everyone in the local community who came along to have a chat and learn about the next steps for Leanchoil.
The Trust raised £342 from the event, boosted by a generous single donation of £1500 from a Forres gentleman.
A huge vote of thanks must go to our small army of intrepid volunteers, particularly those in the kitchen who kept the teas and coffees flowing with a supply of donated cakes and bakes. Despite their best efforts, our coffee morning supporters were overwhelmed by the fantastic amount of baking that was donated by talented Dallas ladies, so the excess has been scooped up by Edinvale Farm for you all to enjoy at their open day today (Sunday 7th). Looks like a grand day out!
We’re taking a short break from our coffee morning tour of Moray but get ready for Rafford and Alves to feature later in the summer.

Wow, what a great turnout at the James Milne Institute in Findhorn on Saturday! At this rate we're going to need a bigger venue! Great to see everyone and have the chance to discuss the developments and vision for Leanchoil.
Thanks to everyone's generosity, we raised £675 towards the project!

The Leanchoil tour bus rolls into Dallas next, so book the date and place: June 6, Dallas Village Hall 10am - noon. See you there!

Thank you for meeting us, great to share the plans for Leanchoil with you.

Busy day in Forres for me today.

Lovely catch up with Leanchoil Trust at Forres Coffee House, to get an update on their plans for Leanchoil Hospital.

Also had my first surgery since my election at Forres House Community Centre. I’ll be holding regular surgeries in communities across Moray in the weeks ahead.

Finished my day with a visit to Forres Academy, Moray to meet with some members of the Current Affairs group. A thoroughly enjoyable discussion and a pleasure to hear about some of the issues that matter to young people in Moray.

We’ve been a little quieter on here recently. Truthfully, the response to our last post gave us a moment to pause and take it all in.

The amount of kindness, support and love shown towards our staff and our wee business meant more than you probably realise. It reminded us that one difficult moment is only ever a very small drop in a much bigger ocean of community support.

Running a small independent business right now is not without its challenges, and over the coming weeks you may notice some price increases across parts of the shop. Like everyone, we are feeling rising costs across ingredients, packaging, wages and supplies.

What we won’t compromise on is quality. We will continue to use organic milk and coffee beans, proper organic ingredients throughout our bakery and kitchen, locally sourced produce where we can, while continuing to make food by hand with care. That has always mattered to us, and it still does.

We know times are tough for many people right now, and accessibility is important to us too. We are constantly trying to find the balance between keeping things affordable while also keeping the Bakehouse sustainable for the future.

Thank you again for backing us, supporting local, and continuing to walk through our doors every day. We really do appreciate it 💚
