We want you to have the best day ever, but let’s stay safe!

😎🏖️ Lifeguards are currently on duty at Southport, Ainsdale, Formby, and Crosby beaches. (10am - 6pm)

The Golden Rules:

🚩 Always swim between the red and yellow flags!
🙋‍♂️ Always ask lifeguards for help if you need it.
🦄 Keep inflatables for the swimming pool only—the ocean wind will sweep them away!
🚫 NEVER enter the water at Crosby beach. Period.
🗣️ Shout for a lifeguard immediately in an emergency.
📞 Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard if no lifeguard is in sight!

First aid training scenarios completed for the teams at Crosby and Ainsdale!

We had the weather for it! ☀️

That's 3 new ATV operators trained up for use on the Sefton Coast.

Our ATV's are used to attend incidents quickly and efficiently - allowing us to carry emergency equipment more easily.

You'll also often find us using them to simply monitor the water at the tideline or to take regular patrols just to make sure everyone's safe 🌊

Spot a lifeguard on an ATV? Shout one over for advice or an if you need help! 🛟

We're back live across all 4 Sefton beaches. 🌅

Crosby lifegaurds are here all year round.

Ainsdale is now fully live until the end of the season.

Formby and Southport is live weekends only until 23rd May, at which point will be fully live until the end of season too.

Need advice or help? Just come and chat to a lifeguard.

In an emergency, shout for a lifeguard or dial 999 and ask for the coastguard 🛟.

That’s a wrap on our Easter service!

While our seasonal patrols at Southport, Ainsdale, and Formby have finished for now, it’s business as usual for the team over at Crosby.

It’s been a busy two weeks helping out, giving advice, and treating plenty of you down on the sand. It’s been great to see everyone out making the most of the coast in the sunshine.

Please keep enjoying the seaside now that we're gone, but just remember that there are no longer lifeguards at the units in Southport, Ainsdale, or Formby.

Lifeguards start up again on the 2nd May - we'll keep you updated via a post nearer the time!

🚩 Coastal Safety Reminder:
>>>Unpatrolled Beaches: There are currently no lifeguards on duty at Southport, Ainsdale, or Formby.
>>>Going in the Water? Always carry a means of calling for help, use a bright tow-float, and tell someone on shore your expected return time.
>>>Crosby Beach: While our lifeguards are stationed here and ready to help, Crosby remains a non-swimming beach due to its unique hazards. Do not enter the water.

Sun's out, and our Easter service is in full swing! We’ve had a busy week on the coast, and our lifeguard team has been working hard to keep everyone safe.

Planning a beach day? Here’s your quick guide to staying safe this week:

🚩 Crosby: Red flags are flying—that means no swimming today!

🟡 Ainsdale & Formby: Always swim between the red and yellow flags.

💬 Southport: Pop over and chat with our lifeguards for the best local advice.

⏰ Hours: We’re on duty from 10am – 6pm every day.

🗓️ Note: Our final day of Easter cover across all beaches is April 12th.

Crosby is covered all year round but still no swimming!

Safety First:
If you see someone in trouble, shout for a lifeguard immediately or dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. 📞

🚨 Lifeguard Patrols for Easter Holidays 🚨

From today, lifeguards will be patrolling daily from 10am–6pm at Southport, Ainsdale, Formby, and Crosby for the duration of the Easter holidays (Sat 28th March – Sun 12th April).

🏖️ If you’re planning a swim, we strongly advise visiting Ainsdale or Formby beach and staying between the red and yellow flags 🚩🟡

We know not everyone can make it to a lifeguarded beach, so please keep this safety advice in mind when visiting the coast:
🌊 The water is still very cold – bring warm clothing for after your dip
📱 Always carry a means of contact, like a mobile phone
🌦️ Check tide times and the weather forecast before heading out
🛟 If you get into trouble in the water, remember: Float to Live
📞 If you see someone in difficulty, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard

Hopefully the weather improves for the rest of the holidays ☀️

Today we celebrate the women of the RNLI Lifeguards in Sefton and beyond. 🌊

Their skill, vigilance, and dedication keep our coastal communities safe every single day.

Looking for more than just a summer job? We are running a 5-day National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ) course this Easter! 🐣

This course will give you the skills, confidence, and certification needed to save lives on our coast. The week concludes with a full assessment after the course.

• Students looking for the ultimate summer job.

A solid week at the Wirral and Formby support centres for our Lifeguard Supervisor inductions.

The team spent the last few days running through:

🏊‍♂️ Pool and ocean skills
🚜 4WD and ATV handling
⛑️ Casualty care revalidations

The inductions also included training to ensure everything is prepared and up to date for when the lifeguards return in a couple of months.

All of this is standard prep to get everything ready for the season ahead!
