Representation matters!

Images taken as part of Hayley Fraser Photography and LLL Collective's Feed Free project are already being put to great use in a leaflet about breastfeeding in public, to help give mums confidence to feed their babies wherever they need to go. Seeing images of other mums feeding out and about is a vital part of this, so thank you to all of our Breast Buddies Angus mums who got involved 💜

📸Feed Free Photography Exhibition 📸

A very exciting evening on Friday attending an exhibition by Hayley Fraser Photography of her Feed Free project exploring themes around breastfeeding, representation in art, and where this fits into the experiences of parenthood. This project was carried out in partnership with LLL Collective and at the opening night in Glasgow, we were honoured to be joined by Alison Thewliss SNP, Minister for Community Care and MSP for Glasgow Central, and Dr. Justice Reilly, Breastfeeding Medicine.

Over the course of 2 years, through the initial support of the Corra Foundation followed by a grant from Creative Scotland , Hayley Fraser worked in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Dundee to capture outdoor, public photos of parents breastfeeding their infants and toddlers in iconic Scottish locations as well as inside public buildings and spaces. As part of the project, Breast Buddies Angus was kindly asked if we would like to be involved, and several of our Angus mums and babies are featured in the exhibition 😍 Hayley also worked individually with parents in Aberdeen and Glasgow to capture more intimate moments at home between mothers and babies.

As part of this project, parents were asked about their breastfeeding journeys as well as why representation matters to them. It is in their own words that this message is at its strongest and we will share some of these stories soon 💜

One of the most common questions when starting your breastfeeding journey is whether your baby is getting enough milk. 💕 There are several signs that can help reassure you. If you're ever concerned, don't hesitate to discuss it with your midwife or health visitor.
