A massive Congratulations to Carla from Arbroath on achieving her Queens Guide Award.🎉🥳

Carla received her award at Ladenford yesterday with an afternoon tea surrounded by her family, friends and fellow volunteers. Carla has worked very hard to achieve this award and we are incredibly lucky to have her as a leader in Angus and as our Young Leader Adviser.

This Volunteers Week we're going to celebrate some of our fantastic volunteers who make Girlguiding happen in towns across Angus.

Over the last year we have been delighted to celebrate the long service of some of our volunteers. Every volunteer's contribution is to be celebrated, but we are particularly proud of Helen, Mary, Anna and Olive.

Helen was presented with her fifty-year long service award at our Christmas party. She began her leadership journey with 2nd Kirriemuir Brownies before moving to 2nd Brechin Brownies, where she continues to volunteer today. Over the years, Helen has also taken on a number of other roles within Girlguiding Angus, including serving as Brechin's district treasurer and as a county adviser.

Mary and Anna were both presented with their long service awards, marking sixty years of service in Girlguiding. Beginning her story with Girlguiding in Dundee, Anna moved to Arbroath and spent many years as a much-loved Tawny Owl to the 11th Arbroath Brownies. Many young women in Arbroath will fondly remember week of rehearsals under Anna's watchful eye as they prepared to compete in the Arbroath and District Music Festival.

Mary became a leader in Edinburgh before moving to Angus where she ran 3rd Montrose Guides for many years. She has had countless roles within Girlguiding, including outdoor adviser, county commissioner and county president in Angus. Mary is still an active member of the county archives team and is a county vice-president.

In what we believe to be a first for Girlguiding Angus, Olive was presented with her award for seventy years of service to Girlguiding. Olive has served in many roles across Angus, but many will know and remember her particular love of our county campsite, Ladenford Den. A passionate camper, she spent countless hours helping to maintain and improve the site, and took great pride in supporting generations of girls as they worked towards their Patrol Leader permits, always encouraging them to build their confidence, skills and independence in the outdoors.

Their combined 240 years of service represent countless hours spent supporting girls and young women, creating opportunities, sharing skills and making memories that last a lifetime. We are incredibly grateful for everything Helen, Mary, Anna and Olive have given to Girlguiding and the positive impact they have had on generations of members.

As we celebrate Volunteers' Week, we also want to say thank you to all of our volunteers across Angus. Whether you've been volunteering for a few months or many decades, your time, enthusiasm and dedication help make Girlguiding the inspiring organisation it is today. We couldn't do it without you.

On Sunday, girls and their leaders from all sections came together at Reid Hall in Forfar to celebrate 100 Years of World Thinking Day in a truly special afternoon of reflection, friendship and fun. The hall was full, with nearly five hundred members attending!

The event brought the history of Girlguiding to life, as girls from every section proudly modelled uniforms from across the decades, showcasing how the organisation has evolved over the past century. Together, they explored the power of friendships that span generations and connect girls and young women across the world.

The celebrations were filled with energy and laughter, with highlights including campfire singing featuring songs from around the globe, and even some lively Bhangra dancing that had everyone on their feet.

To mark the occasion, every attendee received a special commemorative badge — a lasting reminder of a memorable day celebrating 100 years of World Thinking Day.
