Look what was handed in last week - a vintage, Saga-branded timer plug! It’s a brilliant little blast from the past from one of our town's most famous local firms.

Whether your old tech is a local relic or just a broken kettle from last year, don’t bin it - bring it to us so it can be recycled properly!

Drop off your small electricals (cables, gadgets, toys, and plugs) while you do your Saturday shopping:

☀️ BANK HOLIDAY HEATWAVE? TIME FOR A CLEAR OUT! 🔌♻️

With hot weather on the way this Bank Holiday, many of us will be digging out fans, speakers, garden lights and BBQ gadgets ready for the sunshine.

While you’re sorting through cupboards and sheds, why not also round up those old chargers, broken cables, kettles and forgotten gadgets and bring them to Go Folkestone Electrical Recycling?

Big news - we’re off to the Big Green Fair on Sunday 7th June at Enbrook Park, Sandgate! 🌱🎉

Expect a fun, family‑friendly day bursting with eco‑ideas, local groups, wildlife heroes and brilliant green businesses. If you love nature, community and a fun day out, this one’s for you.

We’ll be teaming up with our friends at Hythe Electrical Recycling - come over, say hello, and discover the fascinating journey your old electricals go on after you recycle them. Spoiler: there’s sorting, crushing and some seriously clever material recovery happening right here in Kent.

We’ll also be sharing how donated items help power local charities and community projects. 💚♻️

And YES… the iconic pink bin will be making an appearance. Bring your small unwanted electricals (kettles, toasters, cables, phones, laptops) and feed the bin.

We’ve created a brand new volunteer leaflet! 🙌

Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see these popping up on noticeboards around Folkestone, and we’ll also be handing them out at local events to anyone interested in getting involved.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, this is a great way to make a real difference in your community 🌍♻️ Our friendly team runs the electrical recycling stall every Saturday, and we’re always happy to welcome new faces, whether you can help regularly or just now and then.

Even small electrical items like this little light-up bee 🐝 contain valuable materials such as copper.

So when they break, or you simply don’t need them anymore, don’t throw them away. Bring them to our stall instead. If they’re still working, we’ll pass them on to a charity. If not, they’ll be recycled locally in Sittingbourne, where 98% of the material is recovered for reuse ♻️

We’re outside HSBC every Saturday, 10am–2pm, a quick and convenient drop-off for those small items that aren’t worth a trip to the recycling centre.

Give them a second life (or a proper send-off) with us 👍

Ever wondered what happens to your electrical items once you drop them off at our stall? 🔌♻️

If your items are still working and in good condition, we’ll make sure they find a new home with local charities such as the Rainbow Centre, Pilgrims Hospices, or Sunflower House—helping people in our community while reducing waste.

If they’ve reached the end of their life, don’t worry—your electricals are recycled locally in Sittingbourne. The recycling facility is powered by solar energy, supports jobs here in Kent, and recycles an impressive 98% of all material that comes through its doors.

So you can feel confident that whatever you bring to us will either be reused or responsibly recycled 🌍

Don’t let it go to waste—there are plenty of ways to give it a second life:

👉 Still working? Donate it so someone else can enjoy a good read
👉 Trade it in with Amazon for money off a new Kindle (yes even broken ones!)
👉 Recycle it with us so the precious materials inside can be recovered
