Shorncliffe In-Service Committee was launched to directly support the local community around Shorncliffe Garrison. The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help supports those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve and the families of both. Each year, it provides a reliable, caring and trusted service to more than 50,000 people worldwide. The charity has
been supporting serving and veteran personnel and their families since 1885. The Shorncliffe Committe aim to raise funds throughout the year to support local community projects and provide direct assistance to those in need. For example, we can help with unexpected expenses like transport to see a sick relative or provide equipment for welfare flats and community areas, or even support projects in schools where there are Service Children. Most Committee members have connections with 1 RGR, HQ 2 Brigade and OPTAG. All Gurkha Support workers are Committee members. The Committee is supported by the chain of command and other agencies such as the Health Service, AWS and the Gurkha Wives Committee, but any requests for funding are entirely confidential.
