Fun in the sun at our Touchbase Fun Day! 🎉☀️⚽️

What a lovely day we had making the most of the last bit of sunshine!
There was something for everyone both indoors and outdoors! We enjoyed rounders, football, cricket, badminton, parachute games, croquet, table tennis, board games, badge making and dancing!

We also enjoyed a lovely nature trail around the pond, taking time to spot butterflies, discover different trees and look out for the wildlife around us🌳🐦🦋

One of the loveliest parts of the day was seeing our members spending time together and enjoying themselves. And, of course, sitting together as a group and sharing lunch in the sunshine was the perfect way to take a break and enjoy each other’s company☀️
Days like these remind us how important it is to try new things, build friendships and create happy memories together.

A piece of Touchbase is now on display in Folkestone!🪡🎨

We’re so excited to see our Touchbase Patchwork featured as part of this year’s exhibition at Docker Brewery , alongside the work of lots of talented local artists! ✨

Created at the centre, the 3m patchwork brings together the words, thoughts, feelings and creativity of our members, with each colourful section representing a different voice and perspective.
We love that something created by our members is now being shared with the wider Folkestone community and sitting alongside such a fantastic collection of local artwork.

The exhibition features work across painting, sculpture, textiles, photography and live craft, with plenty to see throughout the brewery.

🍕 Grab a pizza, enjoy a drink and check out the artwork!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this possible!

A very busy Monday in the kitchen! 🥐⏲️

Monday was a busy one in the kitchen as we made two delicious treats!

🥔🇺🇦 Ukrainian Potato Salad – This recipe involved lots of preparing, which gave us plenty of opportunities to practise our kitchen skills especially with mixing and chopping. A special thank you to our member Nikita, who is from Ukraine, for helping us choose the Ukrainian potato salad! 🇺🇦 It was lovely to bring a little piece of his home and culture into our cooking session. Nikita especially enjoyed sharing that this is a dish he would traditionally enjoy with his family at Christmas time.

🧀 Cheese & Bacon Pastry Twists – These were not only delicious but also gave us a chance to work on our dexterity and fine motor skills, carefully twisting and shaping the pastry by hand which was quite tricky at first but we definitely got the hang of it!

A little bit of imagination can turn the simplest things into something wonderful…

Today, we’re celebrating Rachel and her fantastic imagination! Rachel brought in a pine cone from her weekend walk and knew exactly what she wanted to turn it into… The sweetest little hedgehog! 🦔
Have you ever found something in nature and turned it into something imaginative? We’d love to hear what you made!

Who knew a walk to the Harbour could take us back 500 years?!

We headed out for a lovely walk to along Folkestone Harbour to see the incredible Nao Victoria, a full-scale replica of the first ship to sail around the world! 🚢🌍
A great opportunity to get out, enjoy the fresh sea air and see a little bit of history along the way.

You’ve got a friend in me! 🎶🐶

We had the cutest little visitor come to see us! Everyone meet Herbie the gorgeous little Shih-Tzu puppy who is our therapy dog Ruben’s little brother.
His lovely owner Amanda was kind enough to bring him along for a visit and he was SO good and happily soaked up all the attention from our members 🥰Safe to say, we all took one look at this little guy and fell in love… He made so many smiles and a whole lot of happiness.

Recent Art Work!

1- A special gift, created with care 🐸🎨
This beautiful piece was created by our member Rachel as a special present for her sister. Using carbon paper to transfer the design and watercolour pencils to bring it to life, Rachel has created a wonderfully detailed frog sitting peacefully on a log.
The frog is full of character, with beautiful shades of green and yellow, warm orange and brown eyes, and delicate pencil details. Around him, you can spot little bubbles, blue washes creating a watery backdrop, and green grass beneath the log. A truly thoughtful handmade gift!

2 - A splash of colour for a brand-new office! 🎨⛵️
Our talented member Hazel has created this beautiful canvas especially for our CEO Richard’s new office, bringing a little colour and creativity to those white walls!
Using watercolour paints, Hazel has captured a charming boat sailing along the coast, surrounded by rolling blue waves, distant mountains and a bright, open sky filled with fluffy clouds. The loose watercolour strokes give the whole piece a lovely, coastal feel. 🌊☀️

3- A little house with a big meaning 🏡💙
Our member Charlie created this beautiful mini house oval canvas as a special gift for someone who was moving house. Charlie wanted to create something they could keep as a little reminder of the place they used to live.
The artwork captures the house in beautiful detail, with its white exterior, dark timber-style lines, black door and windows, and warm orange chimney pots. Around the house, Charlie has added little touches of greenery, fences, trees and garden details, all beneath a bright deep-blue sky with fluffy white clouds. A thoughtful way to preserve a special place! 🏡✨
