We’re thrilled that Blackpool has been shortlisted as one of just four places in the running to become UK City of Culture 2029, alongside Sheffield, Wrexham and Milton Keynes. 🙌
This is a huge moment for our town and an incredible opportunity to celebrate the creativity, culture and talent that make Blackpool so special. The title could bring £10 million towards a year-long programme of arts, culture, creativity and entertainment, opening up exciting new opportunities for local people.
Blackpool may be known around the world for its iconic attractions and entertainment, but our cultural story goes even deeper. Every day, talented artists, creatives, community groups and organisations across the town are making brilliant things happen — and this is our chance to shine a national spotlight on their work. ✨
Almost 30,000 people have already backed the bid, and we’re so excited to have reached this next stage. With judges set to visit the final four places before the winner is announced this winter, now is the time to show them the energy, imagination and spirit that make Blackpool unlike anywhere else.
