The Ann Letitia Russell Rescue Group is a registered charity run by a group of dedicated volunteers in Fleetwood. The group is dedicated to restoring the former Fleetwood Lifeboat Ann Letitia Russell to her former glory. The group is dedicated to preserving and restoring the former Fleetwood Lifeboat ‘Ann Letitia Russell’ so she can be displayed in Fleetwood Museum in her home port of Fleetwood, he
lping to tell the story pf the history of Fleetwood RNLI. The current estimated restoration cost of the former Fleetwood Lifeboat is £150,000 and a further for her upkeep in years to come. The ‘Ann Letitia Russell’ served as Fleetwood lifeboat from 1939 until 1976 playing an important part in Fleetwood’s proud Maritime heritage. She was involved in numerous rescues including 1 silver medal rescue and 1 bronze medal rescue and helped save over 158 lives. Once decommissioned, she was used for a variety of purposes including a period in Southern Ireland as a fisheries protection vessel. In 1986 she was converted to pleasure craft and she eventually arrived in Lowestoft Marina where she was used as a houseboat until the owner at the time offered to donate the vessel back to Fleetwood on condition that she was not sold but restored and put on public display to tell people about her history.
‘Ann Letitia Russell’ arrived back in Fleetwood 16th August 2015. Worked started soon after to remove any unnecessary additions to her and that would allow her to be preserved whilst in storage until she can be moved to a more permanent home where she can be restored and preserved. She is registered on the National Historic Ships register, No.3522. The Current Committee & Officials 2023/2024
