Fleet Pond Society Fleet Pond Society was formed in 1976 to help maintain Fleet Pond Local Nature Reserve and works in close co-operation with Hart Countryside Services.

Fleet Pond Nature Reserve is one of Hampshire’s hidden gems. At 21 hectares (52 acres), Fleet Pond is Hampshire’s largest natural freshwater lake. The total area of the Reserve is 57 hectares (141 acres) of which 48 hectares (118 acres) is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This applies to the wetlands, the lake and the dry heathland. Over 2,000 species of plants and animals live in or visit the Reserve. Most of the common mammals, amphibians and reptiles are present. Almost 250 species of birds, 12 kinds of fish, more than 400 types of flowering plant and 250 species of fungi have been recorded.

Thank you very much to our fantastic volunteer team who continued the work on Coldstream Marsh this morning.

They removed further trees from the site opening up the ground to the light. There was a huge pile to chip, but the chipper made short work of the task.

Well done to all those on the Marsh and those who were litter picking around the site. We couldn't manage without you all.

Please note information on stock fence replacement around the Pond in the next few weeks.

Essential work to replace stock fencing around Coldstream and Fuglemere Marshes at Fleet Pond will be taking place over the coming weeks, due to start on Monday (19 October).

Most of the work will be away from public areas, but visitors may notice vehicles and materials moving around the site. Please follow any safety signage in place. Vehicles will generally use the path west of the car park, although alternative routes may occasionally be needed depending on the size of vehicles involved.

The new fencing will help secure grazing areas in preparation for the return of livestock.

The paths around Fleet Pond are shared by walkers, dog walkers, cyclists, runners and others. Remember to be patient with each other and share the path so we can all enjoy this beautiful place.

We've been lucky to have some autumn sun this week, great for for a walk, run or cycle in the countryside!🌞

However you enjoy our sites, make sure to Share the Path with all users. 🚴 🏃 🐶 ♿

Not everybody is moving at the same speed, dropping the pace when appropriate can help to avoid any accidents.

A little patience and a friendly smile can go a long way, so that way we can all enjoy the countryside together. 💚

Our volunteer team were in new territory this morning, clearing saplings from the Coldstream Marsh. We have cut reeds here before, but not saplings.

We had a large team who cut the saplings, dragged them to the chipper pile, chipped them and treated the stumps.

Great work team, those brambles were vicious. Thank you all!

We were out litter picking and sapling clearing this morning.

Our volunteers were back on Fugelmere Marsh removing saplings which were then chipped.

The litter picking team were saddened with the number of cigarette butts they found - considering the current high risk of fire - please be mindful of this situation and the HUGE number of dog poo bags left around the Reserve. Please put your dog poo bags in the bins around the site, or take them home.

Well done team on another great morning's work.
