Fleet Pond Society

Fleet Pond Society Fleet Pond Society was formed in 1976 to help maintain Fleet Pond Local Nature Reserve and works in close co-operation with Hart Countryside Services.

The total area of the Reserve is 57 hectares (141 acres) of which 48 hectares (118 acres) is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Important path closure notice.

Hart District Council

Due to an emergency tree work at Fleet Pond, the below pathway between Wellington Avenue and Fleet Railway Station will be closed tomorrow, between 9am and 1pm. ⛔

For your own safety do not use the pathway during these times. To reach the station it is quickest to turn back around rather than going around the entire pond. ✅

This week is 'National Volunteers' week, a week in which we celebrate our volunteers.

Volunteering goes on around the Reserve and behind the scenes too. As well as the physical work there is also all the work carried out by the Committee to keep FPS on track and promotion of the Society at events.

Thank you to all our volunteers for all the hard work that you do. You are fantastic!

Gray's Bridge at the Kenilworth Road entrance to the Reserve underwent a thorough re-fit yesterday, thanks to our volunteers. The foot boards had rotted and new ones were fitted. Thanks team.

I've included a photo of the building of the bridge back in 2015 by our volunteers.

We are so lucky to have fantastic, talented and dedicated volunteers.

Very important water safety advice and boating policy from Hart District Council

Please enjoy Fleet Pond Reserve from the beautiful pathways and leave the water to the wildlife. 😀🦆🪿

During these hot days, our lakes and ponds become even more inviting - but it’s important to remember that these are not designated swimming or boating areas.

⚠️ For your safety:
• No swimming – water conditions can be unpredictable, with hidden hazards, sudden drops and poor water quality.
• No boating or inflatables – unauthorised watercraft put both individuals and wildlife at risk.
• Respect signage and any safety barriers in place..

Our spaces are here to be enjoyed from the shore, whether walking, relaxing or spotting wildlife. By following these simple rules, we can help keep everyone safe and protect the natural environment.
