📣VOLUNTEER ROLE OF THE MONTH 📣

If you have your own car and some spare time, there are a number of organisations who would love to have you as a volunteer driver.

Whether you could take someone to a medical appointment, get young carers to their clubs or collect food to be used in food parcels, there's a role for you.

Many of the roles are really flexible so could be great for people who can't help every week.

Walk and Talk Mental Health Support Group - Delivered by Hart District Council Countryside Service in partnership with Hart Voluntary Action
Looking for an alternative to traditional face-to-face support groups? Walk and talk combines mental health support with the benefits of spending time outdoors. Instead of meeting in a room, sessions take place in a natural environment in Fleet, where conversations can flow more naturally whilst walking.
Sessions are delivered in a small, supportive group setting, giving participants the opportunity to connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges. There will also be opportunities for one-to-one conversations with a qualified counsellor during the walk when needed.
The walks loosely follows a mindful sensory approach, encouraging participants to engage with the sights, sounds and surroundings of the natural environment. Many people find that being outdoors helps them feel more relaxed, while the gentle pace of walking can make it easier to talk about difficult thoughts and feelings.
Is a Walk and Talk support group right for me?
This approach may be suitable if you:
• Feel uncomfortable with traditional face-to-face support.
• Find it easier to talk whilst walking.
• Would benefit from spending time outdoors.
• Are looking for a supportive and relaxed environment.

Time: 10:00 - 12:00
Six sessions, third Friday of each month
Dates: Friday 16 October - Friday 20 November - Friday 18 December - Friday 15 January - Friday 19 February - Friday 19 March

🎪 1. Hart's Community Garden Autumn Fete

The Great Green Wardrobe Comes to Hart Shopping Centre

Discover how to refresh your wardrobe, save money and make more sustainable fashion choices during Sustainable Fashion Week.

Fleet Shopping Centre will be hosting The Great Green Wardrobe, an interactive display designed to inspire simple and sustainable ways to enjoy fashion.

Did you know that 711,000 tonnes of used textiles are discarded in the UK each year — around 35 items per person? The display shares ideas for making the most of the clothes you already own, from restyling and repairing to swapping, upcycling and finding second-hand bargains.

Visit Fleet Shopping Centre from 22nd September to 6th October to explore the display and discover how you can stay stylish, save money and help the planet.

The Great Green Wardrobe has been created by Hampshire County Council as part of its Smart Living waste prevention initiative, with support from the charity Making Space.

📣Welcome to our newest member, Everyone's Fighting Something! 🥊

This brilliant CIC brings boxing to local communities, helping to foster confidence and empower local projects and starting 6th October they will be running a 6-week FREE woman-only, non-contact boxing and fitness programme in Fleet, funded by Sport England.

📆When: Tuesdays, 10-11am
📍Where: Hurricane Training, 154a Fleet Road, Fleet, GU51 4BE (behind Sugarplum Boutique on the high street)
🎫Cost: Free, thanks to Sport England funding

No boxing experience is needed and all fitness levels are welcome. These are non-contact sessions and gloves are provided. Women can take things at their own pace and are given the opportunity to build confidence and connections over time.

After some much needed rain, Hart's Community Garden has come back to life and we've begun our autumn gardening tasks!

This week some of our members made some lovely lavender posies as well - so pleased we're still getting plenty of sunshine too ☺️
