UPDATE ON TREE FELLING!

Here is a useful cross-section of one of the two trees felled at Azalea gardens. As you can see there is a significant advance decay on this particular tree resulting in it having to be removed.

Resident safety remains a priority, and this highlights the importance of having assessments carried out in our woodlands.

TREE FELLING HAPPENING TODAY

Resistance drilling assessments were undertaken on two Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) trees in October 2025 at Azalea Gardens. The results indicate areas of partial internal decay in two trees. As a result, these trees are being felled today.

Long-term replacement planting will be arranged to ensure the trees are replaced as part of the ongoing management of the park. The necessary works are being undertaken to address the identified issues and maintain public safety.

Always sad to see trees go but safety of our residents always remains priority.

October consultation regarding the New Hart Local Plan will open on 26th October 2026 and run until the 7th December 2026.

There will be a number of drop-in events for the public to attend which will be advertised these are

Drop-in sessions 12.30 - 7.30pm

Fleet - The Harlington - 2 November 2026
Odiham - Bridewell - 3 November 2026
Yateley - Yateley Council Office - 9 November 2026
Hartley Wintney - The Victoria Hall - 10 November 2026
Hook - Elizabeth Hall - 12 November 2026

And 10am - 4pm
Fleet - Hart Shopping Centre - 7 November 2026

🌺 Looking its best for Remembrance 🌺

The War Memorial has been given a well-deserved clean and tidy-up and is looking lovely ahead of our Remembrance Service!

A fitting tribute to all those who served and sacrificed so much for our freedom.

The remembrance event will take place on Sunday 8th November at 11am on Gally Hill Road. Additional access will be made for wheelchair users who are advised to arrive a little earlier to ensure visibility.

We will remember them.

As sad as it is to see trees being felled, there are occasions when it is necessary to prevent potential danger to residents and the wider community.

This is why regular tree survey work is so important- identifying trees that may pose a risk and ensuring appropriate action can be taken before they become a problem.

This helpful illustration has been annotated by one of our tree surgeons who had to remove a tree from a parish-owned site this week. We thought in sharing this with our residents, we can better the understanding of the decision making around felling.
