Hart Road Runners Hart Road Runners is a friendly, social running club for runners in the Fleet and Crookham area. Please see our website for further details.

Hart Road Runners is a friendly, social running club for runners in the Fleet, Church Crookham and surrounding areas. We normally meet as a club outside the entrance to the new Hart Leisure Centre in Hitches Lane, Fleet (but this can vary so please check the calendar) on Tuesday evenings at Thursdays at 7:00pm. https://www.hartroadrunners.co.uk/

HRR was formed 40 years ago by a small group of spo

rting enthusiasts from Fleet & Church Crookham area, who wished to train together for the first Fleet Half Marathon. In those days the Club was known as the “Fleet Run for Fun Club”. The Club went from strength to strength, with the name changing to “Hart Road Runners”, but with the emphasis still on fun. In fact, the Club still has some of those founder members running today. The objective of the Club is to encourage and promote amateur road and cross country running in a social and supportive environment. To meet these objectives we offer the following activities to any runner who either wants to develop further or just run for fun: Track training, Coached Sessions, Social and Group runs, Road Running and Cross Country Leagues, and Club Competitions. Our aim is to offer as many diverse and interesting activities as possible so that there is something to suit everyone. The club meets regularly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. So why not come down and join us, as we guarantee fun from running. Please contact our membership secretary ([email protected]) and come and try a couple of sessions and meet our coaches. If you decide to join you will receive our weekly news emails and may enjoy other club benefits, such as personalised training plans. We receive a lot of queries about what standard you have to be to join. As mentioned above, we cater for those who can run 5 km at any pace to semi-elite. If you can run 3ish miles (at any speed), we’d suggest joining our Saturday sessions or if you can run around 6 miles (at any speed) come along on a Thursday night – you can either join our 6 mile paced group or run further to around 7-9 miles in a variety of paced groups. In winter these are road runs, in summer we go off-road quite a lot. On Tuesdays we run coached sessions of speed or hill training – (we’d suggest that you can run 3-4 miles without stopping) and are mainly on-road but again sometimes off-road in summer. On Mondays we run sessions at the track in Aldershot. The Club is managed by a Committee of members, according to the rules laid down in our constitution. We are also affiliated to UK Athletics, the Amateur Athletics Association and other recognised sporting associations from time to time.

Mondays and Tuesdays at HRR are all about speed work.
This week on the track on Monday we had two sessions, one group did 400s and the other did a Norwegian 4x4 which is 4x 4min intervals at a 8/9 effort out of 10 with a 3 min recovery.
Tonight we did a parlauf which is a workout where you work in a team of 3 with 2 of you running and one of you resting and you rotate who rests each loop.

Saturday was a significant day in the world yesterday as our former member Darren Wood ran his 1000th parkrun, the first person to achieve that number. Eight HRRs (not all pictured) supported him at Morden parkrun, the event he chose to run this milestone.

At HRR we offer two speed session a week on Mondays and Tuesdays as well as our social run on a Thursday.
Our fabulous coaches ensure it is a really inclusive session by having a workout that fits into 30-35 minutes plus a warm up and cool down which means that everyone gets a quality session as everyone runs at the target effort on the same loop which allows everyone to run together at different speeds. 🏃🏃🏃

Monday was our track day either doing 1k reps or 6min steady, 6x400, 6 min steady. On Tuesday we did a marathon/ HM session of 1/2 and full mile reps or our clover leaf which is mixed intervals. Then on Thursday we had a brilliant fartlek social run. We are so lucky to have such dedicated coaches!! 🤩

It’s been a cracking start to the year for team HRR 🥳
Last weekend was the ever popular Stubbington 10k which saw so many PBs for HRR which is always super to see!
Alexa also ran to 2nd in her age group at the Hampshire Cross Country Chanpionship! 👏🏻🥈
We were all also very invested in our wonderful head coach Kev who took on the winter spine this week and did us all so proud!! 🥶
