Fishlake and Sykehouse Actions for Climate Change Helping the communities of Fishlake and Sykehouse take action against climate change.

The project, taking place around the parishes of Fishlake and Sykehouse, is organised by the South Yorkshire Biodiversity Research Group (SYBRG) and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund's Together for Our Planet initiative. This project will help the local communities of Fishlake and Sykehouse become better prepared to face climate change through understanding the issues and taking direct action to climate-proof the area.

This links in very nicely to our Veteran White Willows project and how to identify the trees - there are some stunning examples in the Fishlake & Sykehouse area and we are finding others in the wider region.

Fishlake and Sykehouse are home to a wonderful collection of ancient willow trees. These trees are a living connection to our history, heritage and culture and significantly contribute to the area’s distinctive character as well as being a fantastic wildlife habitat.

To help protect these special trees, volunteers from The Woodland Trust have been adding them to the Ancient Tree Inventory. If you know of any old trees, you can add your own entries to this database: https://ati.woodlandtrust.org.uk/
