2nd Keith 'Beithir' Explorer Scout Unit

What a fantastic evening we had yesterday at Cullen Beach for our annual 2nd Keith beach and BBQ with the Explorers and Scouts! Despite the morning downpours, we were so lucky with the weather. Everyone had a blast playing games, exploring the rock pools, and enjoying some delicious ice cream and BBQ! Some getting very wet too. ☀️🍦🍔 🔫

This evening, the Explorers engaged in their characteristic spirit of exploration in Keith! We embarked on a short hike to the supermarket to make some purchases, then proceeded down and around the old Keith to Dufftown railway line for a quick photo snap, concluding our adventure back at the Scout hall for some games.
We were fortunate that the weather remained favorable. As we are diligently preparing for our walking in Kandersteg for next month trip abroad! 🇨🇭⚜️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Some of the Explorers have hiked from Port Gordon to Fochabers today as part of there Expedition towards their gold award they are trying to finish off. One more day to go!

This evening the Explorers have been going through their DofE with what they have been doing, looking at some of the maps for next years 3 day Exped for Skye.

Over the last week we have grown by an additional 7 explorers. So we will take a few weeks to find our feet and move forward to a bigger and stronger unit.

This week the Explorers have been working towards their Survival Skills badge, learning how to correctly skin a wild rabbit (correctly sourced), check for disease, gutting, prepare the meat, then make a rabbit stew in a dutch oven, along with a few haddock gutting and filleting, all cooked over hot coals. They all got stuck in and enjoyed themselves, learning traditional skills. 🔥
