Today marks Safer Internet Day.
Good CYBER SECURITY HABITS.
Discuss online safety with family members and encourage them to practice good cybersecurity habits at home.
• Use Strong Passwords –Use the three random words password technique for online accounts and not use the same password across multiple accounts.
• Keep Devices Secure: Protect electronic devices from unauthorised access with passwords or biometric authentication.
• MFA: Where possible set up multi-factor authentication on online accounts, especially on email and banking accounts.
• Think Before You Share: Be cautious about the information you share online. Understand that once something is posted, it can be challenging to remove entirely.
• Guard Personal Information: Do not share personal information like your address, phone numbers, passwords, or financial details with unknown individuals or websites.
• Practice Safe Social Media: Manage your social media profiles' privacy settings to control who can see your posts and personal information.
• Updating Software: When software updates are available for your computer / applications on your phone, update them as soon as possible. Updates will protect against security vulnerabilities cyber criminals can exploit.
• Support Others: Work together to promote good cybersecurity habits within your family and be understanding if someone makes a mistake or has questions.
