National wildlife day is tomorrow and today we are providing some tips on how to create a wildlife friendly garden to help your local animals.

🌿Plant Native Species: Native plants can provide food and shelter for local wildlife. Wildflowers, shrubs, and trees will support a variety of insects, birds, and mammals.

💧Create a Water Source: A small pond or birdbath will help a variety of animals. Make sure to add rocks or shallow areas for safe access.

🐝Build a Bug Hotel: Pile up logs, leaves, and twigs to create a shelter for insects.

🍂Leave a Wild Corner: Let a section of your garden grow wild. Tall grasses and wildflowers provide a habitat for butterflies, bees, and small mammals.

By making a few changes, you can turn your garden into a thriving ecosystem that supports local wildlife.

National wildlife day is this Friday and today we are focusing on providing education on the law regarding UK wildlife.

Did you know that a lot of our UK wildlife is protected by law?

The Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 is the primary legal framework protecting many animals, plants, and habitats in the UK.

Under this act, all wild birds, their eggs, and active nests are protected. It is illegal to harm, take them, or damage their nests.

Some animals like badgers, bats, and otters also cannot be harmed or trapped. Their homes and resting places are also protected from damage or blocking.

A select group of animals like Badgers also have their own laws specifically protecting them. The Protection of Badgers Act 1992 prevents cruelty to badgers and badger setts across England and Wales.

Breaking these laws and disturbing wildlife if these ways, can open the person responsible to prosecution.

Protecting our wildlife starts with understanding it. When we know the law, we can help give the wildlife around us the protection it deserves. 🐾🌿

There are so many simple ways you can support local wildlife.

Here are a few easy ideas to get you started:
💧 Provide clean water
Whether as a refreshing bath for a bird or a much-needed drink for a hedgehog, clean water is essential for all wildlife.

🌱 Leave some wild areas
Wild areas in your garden give animals places to nest, shelter and find food. We’ll be sharing more tips on creating a wildlife-friendly garden on Thursday, but any habitat you can provide is always appreciated!

🌼 Plant native species
Choose nectar-rich flowers and trees that provide natural food and habitat.

🐌 Avoid pesticides
Avoid chemical slug pellets and insecticides, which can harm wildlife and poison the wider food chain.

Every little bit helps! 💚

This beautiful little lady is Bella, a sweet and wonderfully chatty girl who is searching for a loving, peaceful home where she can enjoy her twilight years.

Bella absolutely adores attention and will happily soak up all the fuss you’re willing to give. You’ll often find her perched right at the top of her scratching tower, watching the world go by before settling down for a cosy nap.

Bella is looking for a calm, quiet home where she can be the only pet and enjoy all the comfort and companionship she deserves.

Could you be the calm and caring person Bella has been waiting for? ❤️

Find out more about Bella on our website: https://wadars.co.uk/wadars_cats/bella-available/
