The Pointer Rescue Service is looking for passionate, committed volunteers to join our team! ๐ถ
Behind every rescue dog who finds a loving forever home is a team of dedicated people working tirelessly behind the scenes. From raising vital funds and spreading awareness to managing the administration that keeps our charity running, every volunteer plays an important part in changing lives.
Founded in 1973 by the wonderful Beryl Bugden, The Pointer Rescue Service has a long and beautiful legacy of saving Pointers and Pointer crosses in the UK and overseas. Although Beryl is sadly no longer with us, her legacy lives on through every dog we help, every life we save and every family we bring together.
Now, we need your help to continue that mission. โค๏ธ
We are looking for long-term, committed volunteers who bring both relevant experience or anyone that would love to learn how to help with the roles below and a genuine passion for rescue dogs. We want people who are reliable, proactive, organised and confident communicators, who would love to become part of a supportive team working towards something truly meaningful.
๐พ OUR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
๐ฐ 1. Fundraising Manager
Do you have a talent for bringing people together and raising money for a good cause? We need someone with fundraising experience, creative ideas and excellent organisational skills to develop fundraising campaigns, coordinate initiatives and help secure the vital funds needed for our rescue work.
๐ 2. Admin Assistant
Are you organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing information? We need someone with strong administrative skills, good written communication and confidence handling emails, records, documents and general charity administration. Accuracy, discretion and reliability are essential.
๐ 3. Gift Aid Manager
Can you help us maximise the value of every donation? We are looking for someone who understands, or is willing to develop their knowledge of, Gift Aid requirements and HMRC procedures. Good record-keeping, attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with donors are important.
๐ฑ 4. Assistant Social Media Manager
Are you creative, digitally confident and passionate about sharing rescue stories? We need someone who can help create engaging posts, share adoption appeals, celebrate happy endings, promote fundraising campaigns and raise awareness of the challenges facing rescue Pointers. Experience with social media platforms, content creation and Canva would be a bonus.
๐๏ธ 5. Pointer Rescue Charity Shop Volunteers
Do you enjoy helping people and supporting a good cause? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help our charity shop raise funds for the dogs. Skills in customer service, merchandising, sorting donations, organising stock and working as part of a team would be valuable. Our charity shop is in Fordingbridge in Hampshire.
๐ช 6. Charity Events Manager
Are you a natural organiser who loves bringing people together? We need someone with event-planning experience to coordinate fundraising events, community activities, awareness days and promotional opportunities. Strong communication, problem-solving, time management and the ability to coordinate volunteers are essential.
๐ 7. Work Experience Manager
Would you love to inspire the next generation of animal welfare advocates? We are seeking someone with experience in education, mentoring, training or volunteer coordination to develop and manage appropriate work experience opportunities. Good communication, safeguarding awareness, organisation and the ability to support and guide participants are important.
๐ค 8. Corporate Sponsorship Manager
Are you confident building professional relationships and developing partnerships? We need someone who can identify potential corporate sponsors, approach businesses, prepare sponsorship proposals and nurture long-term relationships with companies that share our passion for animal welfare. Business development, networking, negotiation and excellent written and verbal communication skills are key.

You donโt need to be able to do everything. We simply need the right people in the right roles, bringing their individual talents together for a shared purpose.
