The Fern Partnership The Fern Partnership is a registered charity. Its aims & objectives are to enhance outcomes of pupils and provide opportunities in the community

The Fern Partnership is an award winning organisation set up initially in 2008 under the name of ‘The Friends of Ferndale’ which essentially was a Parent Staff Association. It’s founder and current Director of Business, Michelle Coburn-Hughes has developed the Charity, Business and Social Enterprise model further which lead to the stand alone charity becoming a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. The Trust has made significant progress as an organisation since 2014 and has been delivering a variety of projects at school and community level within the upper Rhondda Fach in the main however more recently the Rhondda Fawr and further afield. The Fern Partnership aim to increase educational achievement and support community development as a matter of course. The ‘Fern Partnership’ work alongside Ferndale Community School and together set up the objectives and ethos of the organisation:

To advance the education of the pupils by raising funds for items and activities over and above these which the LEA provide. In partnership with community organisations and businesses, assist in developing the lives and wellbeing of the community. We are extremely optimistic our business model will be sustainable for the years ahead and are passionate about partnership building. We are working collaboratively to minimise duplication of services and aim to provide communities with quality, purposeful opportunities that will ultimately tackle poverty. We are currently investigating the options available to us an are seeking to establish a sustainable Social Enterprise which will help us fund our charitable aims without being solely dependent on grant funding. 💚 SCHOOL UNIFORM DONATIONS – THANK YOU! 💚

We are incredibly grateful to our wonderful community for all of the school uniform donations we’ve received. In fact, we’ve been so overwhelmed with your generosity that we’ve officially run out of storage space at Ferndale Hwb! 🥰

To make things easier for everyone, we’ve agreed with Arts Factory Rhondda to pass our uniform donations over to them to keep alongside their existing uniform stock.

This means there will now be one place in the community where families know they can go to find pre-loved school uniform. 💚

We currently have uniform for:

👕 Darran Park Primary School
👕 Ferndale Community School
👕 Ysgol Llyn y Forwyn

Including hoodies, cardigans, polo shirts, trousers, skirts and more.

♻️ If you have any further school uniform you would like to donate, we kindly ask that you take it directly to The Arts Factory rather than Ferndale Hwb.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. Your generosity means these items can be reused and passed on to local families who need them, rather than going to waste. 💚

And a big thank you to The Arts Factory for working with us to make this possible! 🙌

Please share 😊
