We are a couple of mums who have both moved to the village in the last year with our young children. Finding that there was not currently a baby and toddler group here we agreed it would be a great idea to start one up ourselves! Having been to many other toddler groups over the years we both felt that it was a shame that Feltwell didn’t have one. Baby and toddler groups are great for new parents
to meet other parents, for young children to socialise and just to get out of the house! We aim to make this group a welcoming place and to encourage new friendships – for the children and the adults(!). Parents and carers can have a hot drink (or two) and even toast or a biscuit when they arrive (who else sometimes forgets to give themselves breakfast when you’re busy looking after the little ones?!). Children have free play for the first hour – we have various toys and activities; a segregated area for ride on toys; and a dedicated area for babies with baby toys and blankets. Then it is (healthy!) snack time followed by a structured, and often themed, craft activity for those who want to join in, if not, the other toys will still be out for children who want to continue with free play. The last part of the session will be a storybook or singing nursery rhymes – and a surprise (now you have to come to find out what that will be!).
